What Took Her So Long?

The Texas woman who sued the state for an abortion after receiving a lethal fetal diagnosis has now fled Texas in order to obtain the procedure, the Center for Reproductive Rights announced in a statement Monday.

The woman, Kate Cox, a 31-year-old mother of two from Dallas, sued Texas last week. While a lower-court judge ruled to allow Cox to receive an abortion, the Texas state supreme court on Friday paused that ruling. In her lawsuit, Cox said that continuing the pregnancy could threaten her life and future fertility
.

Texas's Official Incel, Ken Paxton, likely threw himself to the floor, had a fit and chewed on the carpet when he heard the news.

Ms. Cox would do well to never return to Baja Oklahoma.

I hope Paxton will do something extremely stupid (good bet) with regard to this, as it could be a massive self-inflicted wound to the R’s within a year of the next Presidential election. This issue, if they handle it poorly (i.e. they chase/gcharge the woman and associates) could actually turn things against the GOP in Texas. Only 36-40% of Texas voters support banning abortion. Another 12% support some limits, but those numbers both drop in the various cases of rape, incest, health risks, etc.

I feel bad for Ms. Cox, but I hope Paxton does something so jaw-droppingly stupid that it can be hung around the necks of all the R candidates for at least two election cycles. And he is so in thrall to the Christian Taliban that he probably will do just that.

Can we rely on Ken….let’s see, before she fled the State:

Paxton stated that the restraining order would expire “long before the statute of limitations for Texas’ abortion laws expires,” seeming to imply that he could prosecute the plaintiffs and any doctors/hospitals retrospectively. (USA Today)

Paxton asked the Texas Supreme Court to rule quickly, saying that “each hour [the temporary restraining order] remains in place is an hour that Plaintiffs believe themselves free to perform and procure an elective abortion.” Also “Nothing can restore the unborn child’s life that will be lost as a result,” the filing said. “Post hoc enforcement is no substitute, so time is of the essence.” (Texas Tribune)

Paxton has called the effort to re-establish federal rules on emergency medicine “unconstitutional”. (Guardian News)

Paxton has also made multiple statements about the “child’s” life, devaluing the mother to a protoplasmic incubator.

And now the news that the Texas Supreme Court has ruled against the lower Court decision, upholding the ban, in an unsigned decision. The good news is the Texas law is a private, bounty law, so the GOP can’t stop some MAGA moron from filing a civil suit to claim the bounty…and when they do…

The next question is what Paxton will do if she returns to the
state? Or try to do if she decides its unsafe to return?

I'd be of the belief; should he try to prosecute her or
anyone connected that will put the Albatross on his neck
and maybe a target on his back.

It has the potential of a being a triggering event.

Its become clear people with functioning uterus and children
in some states are obligate property of that state.
