In 2016, Lavoy Finicum was basically executed by the FBI. He was driving to town to speak with the sheriff where the FBI could have arrested him then. Instead they chose to shoot him, and also fire into the vehicle where he had been driving, which contained people who had not fired a shot at them, and posed no threat to them.
The difference between the Bundy and the BLM bunch is that the Bundys were protesting the government and their illegal court action in regards to the controlled burn of the back fire by the Bundys to stop their ranch from being destroyed. The BlM are burning and looting both police and private property, and sometimes killing people, just for the sake of fueling their protest, and not for any other reason. If you don't recognize that difference, you are not being objective.

1,000 Words: Both video and photographic evidence were released to the public by law enforcement on Tuesday in regard to the shooting. During a press conference law enforcement showed a cellphone video shot by Shawna Cox, one of five people inside Finicum’s truck during the traffic stop. Finicum can be heard on the video repeatedly ignoring commands from law enforcement to surrender. He’s also heard insisting that officers shoot him.

PP, I feel our host is being objective. You state that there was an "illegal court action" in the Bundy incident which precipitated the intervention by easily identifiable federal officials (FBI and other Homeland Security). My research indicates that the Bundy's owed around $1 million in grazing fees to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and that the court action that began the incident went against the Bundy's. BLM alerted local officials and only after the Bundys organized an armed group (using the claim of sovereign citizens) were the feds called in. At least the Bundy's case got to go into a court.
Being objective, I didn't see any court case in the Portland area. What I have seen was an intervention by anonymous federal officials to put down protests by Black Lives Matter (BLM). These officials were not invited by local authority. The protesters were not granted a day in court.
Your above comment provides only a slanted view of the incidents. The Bundys were protesting the government as are the Black Lives Matter folks. Your claim of a controlled burn is unsubstantiated by neutral sources. Granted, the BLM folks in Portland should not be burning and looting public buildings and those responsible should be arrested and prosecuted. But the sixth amendment grants the accused the right to face their accusers, not an anonymous, nebulous group that claims to be law enforcement.

Dale
Pigpen got it right. Apples and oranges. BLM rioters have been wreaking havoc for in many cities for almost 2 months and counting. Cases like Bundy are few and far between and not relevant to what's going on now. If you think they're comparable then it has to be one of three things: you're ignorant of what BLM is doing and what they're about (I really doubt it), you don't care, or you're okay with it.
Ah yes, the one bad seed/apple argument. Followed by the conspiracy argument. Classic.
Bundy should've been arrested as soon after the standoff as practicable.
The clowns standing around perhaps not, but anyone identifiable who aimed their weapon at anyone should've been arrested.
LE let the situation get out of hand in NV, and everyone involved in the later occupation should've been tried.
That LaVoy Finicum was a jerk. I live here. He got what he was asking for.
DTWND,
I believe that the Bundy's served time in jail, were released, and then were again sentenced to more time in jail, because some judge felt they didn't get enough time. The Lavoy Finicum thing was a fiasco, that I didn't support. When you take over any government building, even if it is not being used at the time, you are breaking the law. But there is no doubt that he was executed, from my watching the video of the incident. And most of the remaining members of the group were picked up later on by the feds, after they were allowed to go home. You can't hide from the government, they have the best recognition software available, and they will use it.
It just bothers me that there have been so many cases where the government kills civilians indiscriminately, and gets away with it. The Ruby Ridge case, the stand off in Waco, Lavoy Finicum, they all have been abuse of power by the government, and have ended up with civilians dead, due to the actions of the federal government.
