Nice that they highlighted the ship's motto of "I have not yet begun to fight", but four days into the fire, that's ironic at best.
The story seems to have fallen out of the news cycle.
As USNI reports, fires during maintenance availabilites are not uncommon.

I see little chance of salvaging LHD-6 to ever sail again. Judging by the rough diagrams, all the most costly equipment spaces have probably been either heavily damaged or slagged. The damage to the hull is likely beyond economic repair, in and of itself, and the main machinery spaces are below the area of the known hole in the light deck. In results of the enquiry into this fire will be interesting.
