This is what King Donald the First just tweeted out:
We haven't delayed an election for wars, economic calamities and insurrections. Not for the last 232 years.
Trump is facing a shellacking and he is trying to come up with any rationale to avoid that. Canceling the election (and make no mistake, that's what he's really talking about) is the opening move of a wannabee autocrat.
If you agree with what Trump says, you are not a loyal American citizen. You are a Trumpanzee. Whenever you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you are lying. If you ever swore an oath to "preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemies", you have broken it. You should emigrate to Russia or Hungary in order to live in a country that is run under Trumpist principles.
Trump is a traitor. If you support him, that sticks to you, as well.

I witnessed the Bicentennial, I am less certain of the Sestercentennial. Franklin is reputed to have said “A Republic, if you can keep it”, but was also reported to have continued, in response to a question of why we might not, “(T)he executive will be always increasing here, as elsewhere, till it ends in a monarchy.”
While it seems morbid and overblown to worry that less than six years from now, democracy may be dead, I fear I am not over-reacting. The man who was elected in 2016 is simply not temperamentally suited to losing an election, and his response to the threat, let alone the result, is unclear. The open question is are the pillars of our Republic still firm enough if our orange leader attempts to bring down the temple around him?
I pray that it is. I pray that Republicans are loyal to the country, not Trump. But I am by no means certain of that.
There was a time in the not-too-distant past that such speculation would be insane. It no longer is.
Keep your powder dry.
Not sure it would help, but I'd like to see an Honest State of The Union address. Some soul searching and introspection, some honesty about how far we have wandered beyond our National principles. Some hopeful words about coming together for the good of the Country and Mankind. Taking about what we call the ideal an what we honestly are instead.
Yea I know, "wish in one hand and **** in the other and see which fills up first".
Scary times indeed. "Postpone the election" was one I did have on my bingo board, but I thought it was just too far out there to get it.
So many questions and so few grownups to try and answer.
From going to the "Moon" in my youth to an Authoritarian Dictator in my retirement years. It used to be a pretty good country here.

I've warning about disbanding congress, declaring Martial Law and "postponing" the election since the Cheney Administration.
An original on my blogroll and still a daily stop Steve and I long ago agreed to disagree on that. Probably a good thing he's gone to a comment platform I'm not willing to log into as I really have no desire to gloat.
Two out of three is close enough.
I haven't given up.
I will speculate for a little. Call up my dark side as it will.
I do see an increasing collection of those that can't see the obvious.
If we start to fail its anarchy, that is both undesirable and unhealthy.
The trip down that path has no good place to go, its just about one
thing after another failing. The only ones left will be in a temporary
state as medicine and systems will be long gone and they will be dependent
on scarce and decaying resources and those that would kill for them.
There is no win in that.
One hand grasping at straws the other full of shit, do not clap. There
is nothing to applaud.
The alternate SHTF case is all those idiots are first to die. The old
and inflexible too. The rest, the adults, that understand what death
means will calm it down and get back to rebuilding. The problem there
is those remaining idiots may be at the short end of peoples patience.
That can be painful for those that would continue to agitate. There
will be a high price for stupid. The next round will have low tolerance
for those trying to get everyone killed.
Either ways the trumpist mindset is not a healthy one for all and
likely one that is deadly for those that hold it dear.
Eck!
His niece seems to think that he will go more or less quietly if he gets beaten badly enough in the election, as that will be more than his narcissism can stand.
Perhaps our best shot is keeping the screws to him nonstop until he just gets too bored and demoralized to want to fight anymore.
Not comfortable with that approach, really, but far less comfortable with the likely outcomes of not doing it.
He doesn't really have the authority to postpone the election, but he could definitely stir up a lot of destructive shit among his loyal followers, who are the real problem to begin with.
Remember that he got more votes in the Republican primary than anyone in history.
He is the unavoidable outcome of more than fifty years of the Republican party basing it's electoral strategy on the appeasement of bigots and imbeciles, who they always assumed they could control with god, guns, and gays.
How is that strategy looking to you now, Republicans? Now that you are duty bound to kiss the corpulent ass of someone so morally bankrupt as to make your own cynical strategies look antiquated and quaint as he blunders his way into the destruction of your party all the while loathing and despising you?
His hard core fanbase may be a small and shrinking minority of the population, but still remains a reliable majority of the Republican primary electorate, so even if the rest of the party leadership actually wanted to do something about him, which they do not, they still stand to lose their positions if they try.
As for his fanbase, they deserve to be represented in their government like everyone else, I just hope we can even that representation out with their actual numbers. A country that's 27% in the shitter isn't ideal, but unlike what's going on right now, it's something we can work with.
In am apprehensive, but not in despair.

While I am not a fan of Trump, I will be voting for him. But I hope that he was only being an idiot, with a twitter addiction, like always, when talking about delaying the election.
There is a question that does leaves a lot to consider, though. Here in Michigan, our Secretary of State is Jocelyn Benson. She unilaterally sent all registered voters an application for an absentee ballot. The rule used to be that you had to either know that you were going to be out of town, or be too infirm or ill to vote in person, of have some other real reason for not being able to vote, such as working all of the hours that the polls were open. Now, it seems as if they are going to allow anyone to vote absentee, for no reason.
Now there is no real reason for any conspiracy theory to any of this. If it makes it so that more people vote, no matter which side they vote on, I support that, as that is the nature of our Republic, and I trust in the American people, and their right to vote as a citizen.
Here is the thing that bothers me. The Secretary of State sent out a flyer today, urging us to not mail in our ballot, but rather to hand deliver it to an election location box, so that we can be assured of it being counted. That to me cause a bit of concern. Why would Ms. Benson try to have it both ways, unless she was concerned about the voting being unfairly tampered with?
Just a thought.

HAR HAR HAR!!!
Oh no no no no, Comrade! It doesn't work like that. Your team chose to tear up the constitution when you decided to violently form your own CHAZ/CHOP zones, where you burned, looted and murdered with impunity for weeks. Now you think you're going to wave that shit smeared document at your victims and hide behind it? Good luck with that.
When you throw out the rule book, you can't whine and bitch when the other guys do the same. Far as I'm concerned, you morons are legal targets and your only involvement in any future legal wrangling will be as either a corpse or an statistic. You have earned what you have coming.
Oh, horseshit, Herr Filthie, You are conflating the actions of a small group of people (CHOP/CHAZ) with a sitting president, who seeks to delay, if not cancel an election.
If you think those two things are equivalent, then you are off your rocker need some serious medication. Turn off your computer and go quaff a quart of cheap vodka.
My bad, I forgot. They don't sell vodka in quarts in Canada, they use some Commie-Pinko measuring system. Two liters should do it.
Get busy.
But, in the final analysis, Herr Filthie, your opinion on this matters naught. You are a Canadien and, for that matter, a troll. You cannot participate legally in the upcoming election, therefore, your opinion about matters pertaining to it is as worthless as farting outdoors during a thunderstorm.
So go swing by Tim Horton's and then crawl back into your mother's basement, eh?
Substitute Trump for junk(heroin) when reading the following:
“The junk merchant doesn't sell his product to the consumer, he sells the consumer to his product. He does not improve and simplify his merchandise. He degrades and simplifies the client.”
William Burroughs
Indeed, not only lacking credibility but of no consequence. Not even paper in the wind.
I love how anything that the Right can call liberal or such is all of our fault...but any neo-Nazi or racist acts are the actions of misguided individuals. Meanwhile, Glen can go masturbate to pictures of weapons he can’t own in Canada and a “leader” he wishes Canada had to show those “nasty” wimin their place. We all knew that Glen couldn’t stay away, he’s drawn to our philosophy but has to deny it as loudly as possible to convince himself he isn’t. Just a thought, what ever happened to Larry Craig? Herr Filthie’s blog launched about the time that his final appeal was denied and he dropped from view.
If we could survive the unconstitutionality of Obama, Kerry and Herrin Clinton, we can easily survive Trump who, unlike the last administration, is following the laws and the Constitution.
Just because you personally don't like him doesn't mean he's right off a bad man who will kill us all.
Seriously, we survived the Clinton years and the decimation of asset-intelligence and the beginning of the Military Diversity Era, which got double-down dumb during the Obama years.
And, yeah, actively attacking a candidate using lies, damn lies and the full power of the Justice Department and the FBI and IRS and State Department to force a power-coup that has failed, what, like 4, 5 times?
And you're saying Trump is the issue?
So much fail in your hatred for the OrangeManBad.
"Why would Ms. Benson try to have it both ways, unless she was concerned about the voting being unfairly tampered with?"
Nope. Right now many businesses that do their shipping through the USPS are reporting that shipments that previously took three days are now taking weeks. She is trying to assure that the ballots make it to the place where they are counted by the time they must be there for counting.
The Fergus donor appointed as postmaster general probably has something to do with this, as does the deliberate starving of the USPS by the bogus prefunding rule, which gives them the ostensible reason to fuck around with the delivery schedules.

If Obama had suggested delaying the 2012 or 2016 elections, or had asked China to leak an opppnents’ e-mail, or snatched people off the street and arrested them and kept them incommunicado, would that have been constitutional? Not to mention botching the response to CORVID-19, which is much more than Orange man bad.
Beans, I love how conservatives think that giving people the chance to have health care is tyranny, but denying people the right to vote, cheering on white supremacists, ignoring the hostile acts of a foreign power, and now, seeking to delay/cancel an election isn't tyranny.
Trump supporters love Trump more than they love this country. That, now, is a fact that is beyond reasonable dispute. All these decades, we've been told that liberals hate America. Now we see that was a lie, it's conservatives that are treasonous.
No, that's not fair. Not conservatives, just Trump supporters. Trumpanzees. Traitors.
Thank you for that last sentence. As a Conservative who has realized that Trump has been toying with treason in so many ways, and sees the GOP for what it truly is......the label Conservative has certainly caused me internal confliction. I am a card carrying Libertarian, so I guess I could always fall back on that, then wait for the inevitable blank stare from people who only know “Team A” and “Team B”.
No, Beans, the world is not flat, is not six thousand years old and no, I don't care what your holy book says it's not ok to have sex with your children.
Again our Canuck Gaddafi allows the mask to slip, and shows his venomous, spittle flecked face. For any supporter of Donnie to accuse anyone else of misinterpreting or twisting Constitutional Law is hilarious. We see the modern face of white, male supremacy and its willingness to burn the house down rather than share it, It’s we’ll take the country we built* (*using slaves, Jim Crow, paternalistic control, racist policies, redlining, the KKK, a rigged credit system, etc) and leave. It’s Ayn Randian fantasy at its height, White Man’s Burden writ large and in blood. One wonders exactly how many times they’ve actually read the Constitution, rather than just the bits they masturbate over, let alone the Federalist Papers.
Glen couldn’t say boo to a cat in real life, and would piss his cameo underpants if he had to face someone who could shoot straight IRL.
Wait......a Trump sycophant is tired of the name calling....from the Left????
Heh. Internet tough guys are hilarious.
I'm tired of Herr Filthie's bullshit and, since this is my place, not his, I can do something about it.
And so I have. That Canadien incel will probably say nasty things on his blog, but I don't read it. Since nobody's holding a gun to my head, I'm not going to. I don't give a shit about a troll whose only girlfriend is Mother Palm and Her Five Daughters.
Lol. Here in the Mitten, Comrade, it’s called “Dating Ms. Michigan.”
Dale
Poor sad Filth on election day. Can't even exile himself to Canada following the (US) election since he's already there.
If the Comrade drops the ban hammer on you try Parler, Filth, the right wing social media site for trolls just like you. Too bad your blog is not 'liberal`, they say they will pay a bonus to lure over 'leftist' bloggers with large followings, but so far no takers. You'll fit right in to an all-idiot, all-nazi sausage-fest like Parler. But since your blog, I understand, is not popular and consists of standard nazi content you don't get shit for joining. Write back and tell us how great it is being rid of us liberals. If the Comrade let's you.
Try Russia, filth, they say occupied Ukraine is lovely this time of year. They hate minorities and women just like you do. Check your guns on arrival though, no 2nd amendment in your Mother Russia (or The Great White North either come to think of it). Bon voyage.
Banhammer is in operation.
