Feebie Air Force

They sure seem to like Cessnas. No love among the FBI for Pipers or Maules.

On the other hand, the Dakota would have been analogous to the 182 as the Saratoga would have been to the 206, but Piper stopped making them years ago.

Perhaps it's the high wing too? For surveillance of the sort the FBI is doing, a high wing would seem to be almost a necessity. You can mount a pod under a low wing just fine, but it's hard to beat a high wing for general downward situational awareness, seeing where to aim the camera, and such. I loved the Archer, but for ground reference maneuvers, I preferred the Skyhawk.

I wonder if they'd be interested in a short-term lease of a Cessna 172? It's not like the current weather is letting me get any use of it.

I'll bet that a 172 doesn't have the load capacity the Federales want. Or the loiter capability.

I don't know...64 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and 5 seconds endurance is probably over 48 days on station after you take out the refueling time. It would, however, require leaving the donuts at home.
