Trump's Superspreading

At least three top aides to Vice President Mike Pence have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last few days, people briefed on the matter said, raising fresh questions about the safety protocols at the White House, where masks are not routinely worn.
...
Two people briefed on the matter said that the White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, had sought to keep news of the outbreak from becoming public.

One of the "top aides" is Pence's chief of staff, Marc Short.

Last night, I was reminded of the AIDS epidemic in South Africa, where the then-president Mbeki disregarded the doctors and the scientists and engaged in magical thinking. Nearly a third of a million people died, most of whom wouldn't have died if the government had acted based on knowledge and science instead of fantasy. It was one of the greatest public health failures of modern times.

And yet, here we are, with well over a hundred thousand, if not more, fatalities because Trump couldn't take this pandemic seriously. He has been totally unable to lead. He is an utter failure.

And now, the pandemic is burning through Trump country.

By the way, whether or not any of the vaccines will work may be difficult to determine, for Trump closed the National Vaccine Program Office last year. So basicaly, there will be nobody watching the store.

The utter fecklessness of this presidency will be hard to overcome.

We will not be able to adequately deal with the Virus until we get rid of tRump and his minions. We have the science although we need to produce more PPE. We understand what is necessary for virus control. The one stick in the mud is this administration.
We can only hope that come January we will have someone to set a National Standard to adhere to. Until then, we are screwed thanks to Mr. "Big Business Man.

Yes Trump is monumentally incompetent, but he has managed to completely corrupt those cronies working in his administration and packed courts with Moscow Mitches aid. I blame them more than him for not standing up and doing the their jobs per the oath of office they took. So, instead, it's party, power, pay for play, Citizens United, unmitigated voter suppression, rampant racism, domestic terrorism, and ugh....... devolving into a nation that is nearly one half fascist, antebellum (think plantations), lying old white lockstep authoritarian males, unfettered corporations, and no plan except to stay the course even if it kills all of us.

Dropped off my vote today in a safe box due to a recent experience with slow mail delivery and taking two days of continuous phone calls, extreme hold times, and disconnects to talk with customer service. Lots of excuses (a substitute carrier, misplaced, overlooked, it's out for delivery - not), but thankfully someone followed up and my wife's meds arrived before running out.

But phone banking and trying to GOTV for Biden. It ain't over 'till it's over!

Please note the date on the following tweet:

Joe Biden @JoeBiden
We are not prepared for a pandemic. Trump has rolled back progress President Obama and I made to strengthen global health security. We need leadership that builds public trust, focuses on real threats, and mobilizes the world to stop outbreaks before they reach our shores.

Ten Bears, since the pandemic is disproportionately hammering Blacks and Lantinos, the analogy is a fair one.
