After watching The Homesman on a cable rental.
"Slow", "gawdawful" and "pointless" are the first three adjectives that come to mind.
UPDATE: It grossed around than $6 million on a production budget of $16 million. Which is more than The Beaver, but it was still a bomb.

Beats the shit outta me, NFO. Tommy Lee Jones was one of the producers. I thought he had more sense than that.
I woulda said "depressing, depressing and depressing".
I'd call it grim and depressing. On the plus side, it gives a realistic view of some of the trials people suffered, stuff that is given short shrift in most Westerns. Also, there is the hotel in the middle of nowhere, the burning of said hotel, the shoes, money, and Tommy dancing a jig. Twice. That alone was worth the price of admission.
And sad. The death of Hillary's character was particularly disturbing.
