Just what I wanted to hear today: Some math guy explaining how when they say "3% margin of error," there is a 5% chance that the result could be outside of the margin of error.

Then there was that extremely undereducated VP candidate who thinks that the First Amendment exists to protect politicians from being questioned by the press. That is the stupidest comment I have heard since I heard some idiot explain that the Second Amendment gives the government the right to own firearms.

Actually, Palin may have uttered the stupidest comment on the Constitution since 1789. As Glenn Greenwald noted, the First Amendment exists to protect a free press, not to provide politicians with the right to spew their lies. This isn't a law-school level topic, Palin failed to understand a basic point about the Constitution that should be understood by the average 10th grader.

Anyway, go 2:45 into this clip to see McCain's ringing endorsement of Palin's readiness to take over as president.

The polling term "margin of error" means the amount of error that the published results are within, 95% of the time. There's not much more you can do, short of polling everybody who will vote.
