The Feds barred them from receiving student loan funds, following allegations of fraud and deceptive marketing. They were also losing (or had lost) their accreditation. ITT Tech tried to restructure as a non-profit or sell off its campuses, but to no avail. So they're done.

Fox News formally apologized to Gretchen Carlson and they're paying her $20 million to settle her lawsuit against them and Ailes. Ailes, uncharacteristically, had nothing to say, but since Fox paid him $40 million to go away, why would he?

If any of your stuff that is being shipped is on a containership, you'd best hope that it's not a Hanjin ship. They've filed for bankruptcy, which means none of their ships can enter a port to be unloaded, for the ports and their stevedores won't be paid. The ships and their crews are pretty much stranded at sea, in the hopes that a deal of some kind can be reached before they run out of fuel or food.

" De mortuis nihil nisi bonum"
Speaking of Phyllis Schlafly...
Bette Davis is believed to have said something like that about Joan Crawford, only in English.
I share the sentiment.
Number of public universities that have been stripped of their financial aid for making fraudulent claims to potential students: zero.
Number of private universities that have been stripped of their financial aid for making fraudulent claims to potential students: Hundreds.
Can we put a stake in the heart of this "private enterprise always does things better than government" notion, already?
They say to only speak good of the dead. She is dead. GOOD.
I saw a tweet on someone's blog this morning that said that it was sad that she didn't live to see the first female president inaugurated.

Doug, that idea night have been what killed her, we can hope.
Tux, I'd prefer we use the stake on her!
At least the word is Ailes is paying some of the $20 million himself, but I don't really believe it. However, the fact they settled should bring more allegations to light...
Doug, I had the same thought about Jesse Helms.
