It Should Have Been Longer

A California man who drove a stun gun into a police officer’s neck during one of the most violent clashes of the U.S. Capitol riot was sentenced on Wednesday to more than 12 years in prison.

Daniel “D.J.” Rodriguez yelled, “Trump won!” as he was led out of the courtroom where U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced him to 12 years and seven months behind bars for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack. Only two other Jan. 6 defendants have received longer prison terms so far after hundreds of sentencings for Capitol riot cases
.

Prosecutors wanted him to be sentenced to fourteen years. The judge should have accepted that. The perp shocked Officer Fanone into a heart attack, damn near killing him. But when it comes to the Jamuary 6th Trumpist Coup Attempt, the law-'n-order crows pivots to wanting to murder the boys in blue.

Probably should have been longer, but 12 years in the grey bar hotel is a rough place to spend your time. I have no sympathy for this guy. He made a choice that will haunt him for years to come...

Hard time too, federal, none of that in-and-out stuff. He might see 2 or 3 months parole ...

he's got two years' worth of time served credit, already, and, at 85% until parole, if he's good, he's got another 10-1/2 years to do.

Unless some batshit MAGA Republican gets in and pardons him, or commutes his sentence.

I guess he thought Teflon Don would be reinstated as President and get a wink and nod.
