A suburban Minneapolis police officer who said she confused her handgun for her Taser was convicted of manslaughter Thursday in the death of Daunte Wright, prompting tears from the young Black man’s parents and a jubilant celebration by supporters outside the courthouse who chanted “Guilty, guilty, guilty!”
The mostly white jury deliberated for about 27 hours over four days before finding former Brooklyn Center officer Kim Potter guilty of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter. Potter, 49, faces about seven years in prison under the state’s sentencing guidelines, but prosecutors said they would seek a longer term.
I thought that either Potter would get off entirely or she'd be convicted of second degree manslaughter. I thought the jury would buy that she absolutely didn't intend to shoot Mr. Wright and that they'd accept the chief's opinion that the shooting didn't violate departmental policy.
Guess that possible gig as a TV legal analyst is out of the question....
Just kidding about that.

Oddly, despite your assertions, Whites jurors convict based on laws...at least they convict whites....
Black criminals, on the other hand, get off...based on the color of their skin.

Use Google for other examples.
You really expect me to research your contention for you?
Dream on, laddie.
Poor B, always confusing anecdata with real-life research.
Laugh out loud ...
By the way, B, I was commenting on the facts presented in the case. I made no comment about the racial makeup of the jury.
Your comment is based on a faulty, if not insulting, assumption.
B, c'mon. Do you really think we are that dumb?
You make the inference that because the jury was white, (and then comparing it to a black jury) that they hand out justice fairly. That's an asinine assumption on your part. Based on that assumption (and reading a great many of your posting on your blog) one can infer that you are exhibiting racist behavior. But I'm sure you'll try to explain it away as just pointing out other articles that present an opposing view.
You are proud of your heritage, good for you. But your heritage is no better nor worse than anyone else's heritage. You should stop using a news article to attribute that behavior to an entire group of people. You claim to be better than that.
Dale
Yes, Comrade, you have made assertions that whites won't convict other whites...see also the Arbery case for an example.
And since yuo reject every article I post to show how wrong you are every time, I simply suggested a line of research so you could see for yourself, since you won't accept my research and examples.
But since you are closed minded you won't bother to look to see and learn, will you?
Keep worshipping at the Church of Unthinking Liberal Thought, and think what they tell you to.
B, you made a bad assumption at the reasoning behind my post and now, after being informed as to that fact, you're doubling down on it.
Why can't you admit that you were in error? Is your sense of Wingnut Manhood that fragile? Are you that much of a snowflake?
Never mind. The answer to my last question is self-evident.
So you are saying that you never doubted that a mostly white jury would convict a white guy in the Arbery case?
Perhaps you should read your own post history.
You'll never admit it 'cause you never do when you are mistaken, but go read your own posts for elucidation.
You are twisting the facts to suit your own views, B. This post was not about the Arbery case.
Why can’t you acknowledge that? Are you, like Your Orange God, incapable of admitting an error?
Never said it was about the Arbery case, I simply pointed out that "Mostly White Juries" seems to do the right thing, You are the one that was surprised by that., Just like in the Arbery case where you were sure that A "Mostly white Jury" would not convict. (and the two are in no way linked, but the latter was an example of your surprise that a white jury could convict).
You were, again, surprised in the current case as well.
I didn't make a comment about the racial makeup of the jury in the Wright killing case. You're the one who went there, B, not me.
I'm done arguing with you on this thread, B. No more comments from you on this thread, please.
