And it was when the Man from Iran told Maliki he was on his own that he stepped down.
We talk big over there but Iran quietly gets things done.
Iran has been Maliki's patron since day 1. Iran trains and supports the Shia militias. They want a quiescent vassal state on their border (like any other regional/great power does) and if that takes putting a 9mm into the back of his neck, that's what they'll do.
