Irony Is Not Dead

Neither is obliviousness:

The Russian government under Vladimir Putin has amassed so much central authority that the power-grab may undermine Moscow's commitment to democracy, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Saturday.

"In any country, if you don't have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development," Rice told reporters after meeting with human-rights activists.

You either have to love the irony or suffer the injury of bashing your head against a wall. Rice is a member of an administration whose single, overarching goal is to destroy every check on its power. She has got to have an unbelievable amount of gall to criticize the executive in another country for achieving what her boss wants for himself.

Dick Cheney probably masturbates to a photo of Vladimir Putin, for they both have the same level of contempt for democracy. In that Putin has managed to cow the Russian legislature, the Russian judiciary, take effective control of the Russian media and use the levers of power to jail his political opponents, Putin is living Cheney's dream. Cheney is probably jealous of Putin in that Putin is scheming to hold onto power after he leaves office, while the best Cheney can hope for is to die before he gets prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

Rice has no foundation from which to accuse anyone else of grabbing power. And all but the Kool-Aid imbibing Wingnuts are well aware of that.
