Shit or Get Off the Can

While everyone says that they want the Iraqis to get their shit together, the plain truth of the matter is that because the Iraqi politicians know that Bush is not going to pull the troops out, they can fiddle-fuck around and play chicken with each other, rather than try to get things resolved. They can just argue and let the sectarian cleansing and the low-grade civil war play out in the hopes of gaining the advantage.

This is why we should say, with clarity, that we are leaving and sooner, later than later. The Iraqi politicians can either resolve their differences now, under the protection of American soldiers, or they can resolve their differences on the battlefield, after we leave.

The Iraqi politicians are screwing around at the cost of the lives of our soldiers and the lives of their people.

"Depend upon it, sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully."-- Samuel Johnson

It is time we let the Iraqi politicians feel the truth of Ben Franklin's comment:

"We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

Since they won't hang together and work to fix their government, it is time for us to leave and let them all hang.
