Comet 4s:
BOAC was the first to offer transatlantic service with the Comet 4, which began sixty years ago this month. However, it was widely apparent that the Comet 4 was inferior to the Boeing 707-120, to the point that BOAC ordered 707s years before they took delivery of their first Comet 4.
The first 707s went into service a few weeks after the Comet 4s.
