He calls lying about where he worked, where he went to school and his family's ownership of rental properties to be just a minor case of "resume embellishment" and "poor choices of words". He lied about having employees who were killed in a mass shooting and lied about a company he supposedly was starting
Basically, when Santos talked about anything in his life, every word that came out of his mouth was a lie, including he conjunctions and articles. Therefore, he's a perfect fit for the Party of Trump.
There's a chance that he lied on his Congressional disclosure forms, and he lived somewhere else than his voter registration when he voted, which are crimes, and that might get him a little bit of trouble.

Since the Republicans now are taking over the House with a slim margin they will not do anything themselves that would possibly lose them a seat. The Ethics Committee doesn't seem to do anything to any member of either party because of in that one thing, it's the "Good Ole Boys" club. They know too many people in this country have a short attention span and will forget this shortly when some new scandal pops up. The only reason they went after Madison Crawford was because he made allegations about members of his own party, not because of his constant lying and other antics.
On the other hand, the NY AG is investigating the false charity angle…that could go badly.
