Meanwhile, the Wheels of Justice Keep Grinding the Insurrectionists

A federal jury on Monday convicted a New York Police Department veteran of assaulting an officer during the U.S. Capitol riot, rejecting his claim that he was defending himself when he tackled the officer and grabbed his gas mask.

Thomas Webster, a 20-year NYPD veteran, was the first Capitol riot defendant to be tried on an assault charge and the first to present a jury with a self-defense argument.

Jurors deliberated for less than three hours before they convicted Webster of all six counts in his indictment, including a charge that he assaulted Metropolitan Police Department officer Noah Rathbun with a dangerous weapon, a metal flagpole.
...
Two jurors who spoke to reporters after the verdict said videos capturing the officer’s assault from multiple angles were crucial evidence rebutting Webster’s self-defense argument
.

Ah, the old argument of "who you gonna believe, me or your eyes" fails again.

I still wanna know why the Justice System wouldn't use the same technology they used on the Capitol Protesters (some of whom are as guilty as you claim) to track down all those folks who Burnt, Looted and Murdered during the BLM riots. They had essentially the same amount of video, Cell phone data, and other electronic evidence, but somehow they just couldn't find a way to be motivated to use it to try and find those folks...

Odd, that.

First off, I reject your characterization of the protests of 2020 as "BLM Riots".

But, as almost everyone who is not a devotee of Fox News and a loyal supporter of The TOFF knows, there is a wild gulf between looting a liquor store and trying to violently overturn the results of a free and fair election.

But that's something that you have not recognized in well over a year, so I'm just speaking for the audience. You can defend the Insurrectionists all you want, but do it in your own space. I have no time for Election Deniers and Insurrectionists and their fellow-travelers.

Here in the Comments, we have replaced Whack-a Mole with Whack-A-B. Wish it weren't so. But I suppose everyone needs a faith of some sort...whether it be in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Turtles all the Way Down or even a True Believer in the Glorious Righteous Splendor of the TOFF.
Me, I believe in the Turtles: it's so much more grounded in reality.

Oh, and B.... About BLM protests: Charley Pierce tells us:

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper charges in a memoir out May 10 that former President Trump said when demonstrators were filling the streets around the White House following the death of George Floyd: "Can't you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?”… That moment in the first week of June, 2020, "was surreal, sitting in front of the Resolute desk, inside the Oval Office, with this idea weighing heavily in the air, and the president red faced and complaining loudly about the protests under way in Washington, D.C.," Esper writes."The good news — this wasn't a difficult decision," Esper continues. "The bad news — I had to figure out a way to walk Trump back without creating the mess I was trying to avoid.”

So, in June of an election year, the President* of the United States wanted to use the military to create a fcking bloodbath in and around Lafayette Park, and the Secretary of Defense had to “walk Trump back.”

Yep, B. Putin and Trump sittin' in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. Now all we (don't) need is a banana republic coup from the the GOP in the midterms.

I hate to break it to you, B, but you’ve made a falsifiable statement about the arsonists/rioters.

But while the events of that week have been closely watched, many of the law enforcement tactics used to respond to those protests are only now coming to light. A series of six newly unsealed warrants (1 2 3 4 5 6), some previously reported by Forbes, show a persistent effort to use Google’s location services to identify Android users in the vicinity of arson incidents.

Issued in quick succession on September 3rd, the warrants came from a team of 50 arson investigators from the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, deployed to Kenosha to prosecute property damage cases connected to the protests. Using the warrants, The agents targeted seven different geographical zones, asking to identify anyone located within that area during a span that could stretch as long as two hours. The result was a kind of location dragnet, spread over some of the busiest times and locations in the first days of the protest.

It was the NAZIs doing the looting and burning, trying to make it look like BLM.

It was obvious to me from the start, and I'm pretty damned familiar with Portland.

And COINTL. It's been around since Nixon; agitprop, false-flags, agents provocateurs.

Maybe one of these day's they'll pull something new out of their hindquarters.

The reason Anarchists never win is we can't get our shit together ...

DA: How many people have been arrested in those "Investigations" of the BLM riots? After more time than they had for the jan 6th (to use our hostesses words, "Legitimate Protest") with no great amount of results, unlike the Jan 6th protester witch hunt...

Ten Bears? Yer telling me those black people who are on news videos looting during the BLM (ahem) "legitimate protests" (and as reported by the news, "Mostly Peaceful") were nazis? What color is the sky in your world? Seriously.

Ms Mifit: Didja read the part in my comment where I pointed out "(some of whom are as guilty as you claim)"?

B, you’ve already shown you have no idea about this subject, so asking for more details is something you could look up and get back to us on. My reliability isn’t at question, your credibility and apparent ignorance on this subject are.

The last time we had this discussion on this site, I posted links to several articles that discussed how many more BLM protesters than Capitol protesters had been arrested, prosecuted and convicted (Hint: it was a lot more!). I guess some might complain that the articles were the work of the "liberal media," but reporter bias doesn't change the number of arrests, decisions made to prosecute or the number of convictions.

Now, is there more publicity surrounding the Capitol protesters' arrests and convictions. Certainly, but that probably goes back to Ms. Misfit's comment, "But, as almost everyone who is not a devotee of Fox News and a loyal supporter of The TOFF knows, there is a wild gulf between looting a liquor store and trying to violently overturn the results of a free and fair election."

So B, your initial comment doesn't hold any water.

The jurors were mystified as to why he would claim self defense when there was video from multiple angles. Guess he was just used to getting away with shit like that from being a cop himself.

It's your kind, itch, that shits in their backyard, not mine. I have forgotten more about Portland Oregon than you will ever know. Some people don't have a problem making the connection between Portland and Outsider. If you're not lying, you're repeating NAZI talking-points, clearly incapable of coming up with something original ~ of pulling something new out of your hindquarters. It's your kind that shits in your backyard, not mine.

Someone once asked my Hell's Angel picture on the cover of the book uncle why he wore all that NAZI regalia on his cutoff, said "Spoils of War."

You made it personal ...

Din Doug said it, reasonable jurors found overwhelming evidence of violent assault beyond reasonable doubt. Alternative facts and alt worldview meets real world. I'm hoping for fifteen years, out in eight if he changes his behavior right quick. Fucking traitors.
