I don't know what celestial bodies have to be in line for me to agree with him on anything, but there it is.
There was a time when the slang for a defense of assault based on unbearable provocation was called "The Toyota Defense." (As in "he asked for it, he got it.")
It rarely worked.
Pamela Gellar is a hate-mongering troll. Like all such trolls, her game is not to contribute to the public discourse on her pet issue, but to throw gasoline around and hope that somebody else supplies the match, so she can then accuse them of burning down the place.
She got what she wanted.
To be clear: Shooting trolls is not acceptable. Debating them is fruitless. You don't have to listen to, let alone argue with trolls. The First Amendment gives trolls the right to speak, but it does not create an obligation in anyone to listen to them. But shooting at them only encourages trolls. It feeds them. Do not feed the trolls.
Violence towards trolls is not permissible. Violence towards anyone expressing a point of view that you don't like will not gain you adherents. It only creates enemies.
(Even if our own Christian Taliban probably approves of shooting people.)
By the way, what were those two lunatics thinking they could do if they got inside? It was Texas; probably at least 40% of the people inside were strapped.

Given the event was held in a School District building, depending upon other events and such, it may have been illegal to carry on the property under the Texas Concealed Carry Law.
Without more details on the exact designation of the building, what else was occurring at the same time and/or the location with regard to any school buildings, it's not really possible to be sure. But the geniuses were from Arizona, so they probably didn't know that. Two terrorists, reportedly with body armor and "assault rifles", down by one cop with a service pistol is pretty good police work.
Damn, that Evan Sayet comment is funny! Hee.
But let's hear it for the police. Everybody loves them when they're saving folks, but give it half a day and the usual suspects will be back to protesting them again.
CP88, so will the Bloombergers claim that this was a "school shooting"?
Murph, didn't the cops do their job as in "that's that you get paid to do"?
Comrade, don't know, so I did a bit of research:
1) The Curtis Culwell Center is a multipurpose facility owned by the Garland Independent School District. It was built to provide a location, within Garland, for ISD events such as graduations, etc.
2) The CCC is located next to Naaman Forest High School, but appears to be a separate property.
3) Under Texas Concealed Handgun License laws, the CCC appears to be a legal place to carry, as long as an ISD activity is not occurring at the same time in or around the CCC. Most CHL holders would consider that to be a reason not to carry, as any such activity would not have to be advertised but the CHL holder would still be liable. Even if such an event was occurring, your weapon would be legal in your vehicle in the parking lot.
4) The CCC's policies and rules prohibit firearms, but that doesn't prohibit concealed carry. To prohibit concealed carry in an otherwise legal place, two signs, in exact language, in both English and Spanish, and in letters at least 1" tall, are required by every entrance (...or a "51%" sign (indicating a location derives at least 51% of its revenue from alcohol sales)...but the CCC also prohibits alcohol).
5) It is possible that the CCC is considered "part" of Naaman Forest High School, and thus would have a strict no firearms rule, per state law.
So, a school shooting, probably no, but that won't stop both sides from using it to their own ends. As for carrying at the CCC, I wouldn't...but, of course, I wouldn't go to a meeting like that, it's just asking for trouble.
Additional note, the $10,000 reportedly spent on security would be above and beyond the security already built into the contract, which covers required security based upon event type and number of attendees.
Probably not coincidentally, last January a group of those "moderate Muslims" the Christianists keep demanding to hear from held a conference in Garland Texas. The conference topic was how to defeat extremist Muslims and become more accepted in U.S. society.
Of course, the good people of Garland showed up en masse to protest them and demand they "get out of our country."
I can't determine if the Muslim conference was held at the same building as Pam's event, but it was a public building related to the school district.

Danny, it was indeed at the CCC.
