The Republican War on Women

In Georgia, there is a move to reclassify rape victims as "rape accusers." One would only be entitled to claim that one was a "victim" if the rapist had been convicted of rape. This redefinition of what it means to be a victim would only apply to crimes where the victims, sorry, the "accusers" are most commonly women: Domestic violence, rape and stalking.

So, in Georgia, if a guy mouths off in a bar and two truckers beat the ever loving shit out of him, he's an assault victim. But if Mouthy then goes home and beats on his wife, she's just a "domestic assault accuser."

Because, after all, in the minds of those clowns, women are property and beating up a woman is not much different from beating a mule.

Also, if you don't think that there is a coincidence between this piece of legislative fuckery and the Republicans' push to limit abortion rights to only victims of forcible rape, then I have a bridge to sell to you.

I did not think that the language of the bill was some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. The religious right has been wanting to get a blanket ban on the procedure including pregnancies where the woman's life would be danger not to mention rape and incest. This is just a step in that direction.
