Very cool!
Of the 1960s-era capsules, both the Mercury and Apollo spacecraft used similar systems. Gemini capsules were outfitted with ejection seats.

Now the only problem is a rocket launcher to get it into space... it's too heavy for a Soyuz, which right now is the only man-rated launcher on the planet. Siiiiigh!
