Note the decline in membership. That likely is mostly annual members, who pay dues yearly, or for a few years if they get a good discount. They're the ones who can say "AMF" and have a financial effect on the NRA. Life members generally don't quit (they die off), but they also don't pay ongoing dues.
1.3 million dues-paying members is a lot to lose. That is probably why the amount of dues being paid dropped by two-thirds. Where life members can make an impact is in giving cash, and it would seem there, the NRA is also hurting, as donations have been halved.
As an aside, the NRA is still claiming that there are five million members.
Total income is more than halved, but that didn't stop WLP and his cronies from sucking cash out of the organization until very recently.

I have remained a member of the NRA in the hopes that they get their crap together and turn things around. While steps are being taken to attempt to fix things, it might be a case of too little, too late.
There are a few reform minded board members that are trying to get the rest of the board to follow suit and fix things for real, and not just for show. But it is a heavy lift, and the powers that be, those who remain loyal to the WLP style, meaning stealing money from the members, are doing everything they can to hold the status quo.
Aside from the political aspect of the NRA, there are many things that they do that are not only very helpful, but important to the American people. Things like the Eddie Eagle program in schools, that have no doubt saved lives with the message to young people that they should not touch a gun if found, but leave and tell an adult.
Also the NRA is responsible for setting standards for trainers and at least here in Michigan their curriculum is used in CCW classes.
It would be a shame for the good things to go away but only if the organization gets their criminal behavior weeded out and starts to act like a non profit organization is supposed to act. Part of that will start with getting rid of so called board members who are only on the board for recognition and/or possible financial reward, aka graft. If they cannot get things straightened out, it would be better to fold rather than continue as a laughingstock and even a criminal enterprise.
I hope that we see those who have made the NRA into what is in effect a mob organization akin to the Mafia see justice, whatever that may look like.
The NRA needs to be eliminated and fuck Scalia and his {c}clause(s). The whole world is laughing at US.
