Meanwhile, in the "Show Me" State

From the Springfield, MO fire chief:

Remember: 99.5 percent of recent deaths from coronavirus are of individuals who were unvaccinated and could have been prevented with a vaccine.

Here’s what can happen if you don’t get vaccinated

If you get COVID-19, you probably won't die. Probably. But about a quarter of all people who come down with COVID-19 develop "long COVID," a series of symptoms that range from the annoying to the severe. These symptoms often last a year or longer and include:

Followed by 20 some buckets-of-joy with this zinger for the Old White Guys of the GOP:
Erectile Dysfunction

Color Dear Leader unworried.....

Yer probably correct about the vaccination..

But the headline is misleading if you you look at the umbers and not the hysteria.

Remember that the total number of covid hospitalizations the Fire Chief you quoted (and let us remember that he is NOT a medical professional) was referring to is a terribly high 252 patients.

Two Hundred-Fifty two. Patients, not deaths.
(the total population is listed at 159,498 people in the city, just for a reference) So a hospitalization rate of approximately 0.00158.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/mercy-springfield-coxhealth-both-treating-100-covid-19-patients-over-weekend-mercy-adds-another-covid-unit/ar-AAM1Mcn

So it is a nice headline, if somewhat misleading.

Pretty sure they already suffer that malady Stewart.

It seems at this point to have become a plague of the Rethugs. Not to say it won't affect the intelligent, but a good portion of the intelligent population has already sought out the vaccination.
Only partly tongue in cheek do I call this a disease of the ignorant. The politically ignorant.
We may be witnessing the physical end of the Republican party. I admit I had hoped for this, but my idea was more natural elimination by old age.
I'll take what we can get.
They were a minority party, to begin with. Now they will become even smaller.
OK by me

From "Show Me Progress":

Steve Edwards @SDECoxHealth
119 Covid inpatients at CoxHealth this morning. (We had only 14 patients in the middle of May).

Projections for the week of July 19 range from 153-178. This is likely well beyond our capability.

Delta is so highly transmissible, if not vaccinated, you are at tremendous risk.

It seems we'll never get that THIS IS HOW IT WORKS! If you had 5 last week and 10 this week, it doesn't matter that it's still a small number. IT DOUBLED! And it's going to keep doing that until you get a handle on it.If you think that what happened in India can't happen here because we have different churches here or something, stand by for the hardest sort of education.JFC, the breadth and depth of the stupidity is disheartening.

B, what part of “running out of ventilators” are you unable to comprehend. These aren’t people hospitalized and treated with IVs and anti-viral agents. And your asinine comment that only medical professionals are fit to inform the public on issues of public safety strains ones credulity to the limit.

98 patients in critical care, 58 are on ventilators. This is an all-time high. This rate of severe illness is worse than anything we’ve seen.

I was an early vote for "Trump-Flu" though the consensus settled around "Trump-Virus" and Trump Pandemic, and it is thoroughly documented that he opened the door and let in, gave it time to spread ~ continues to give it time to spread ~ while when not fiddle-fucking around projecting blame on to others. I'm totally cool with giving him credit for the vaccine, the Trump-Flu Vaccine.

But it occurs to me that it would be better known as the Republican-Flu. The Conservative-Flu. The Standing Athwart History Yelling Stop! Flu. The It's Only Killing The Stupid (now) Flu.

B,

Right on time and target... half the truth, all of the propaganda,
all of the time.

Dead or not the increasing number of people in hospitals, many
requiring medication and ventilators is a sign or plague V2.
As the numbers increase the numbers that tie will of course follow.

There is a paradox here... The people that are of the Drumpf party
are in the majority of anti-vaccination belivers and are also in
the red states where the Covid-14-delta variant is starting to
get a foothold. Unless I read it wrong those people will be sick
and some fraction will be dying and the party of minority will be
shrinking. The paradox is that's a reality not a a conspiracy
fable. Yet they don't vaccinate to keep their numbers up.
Self extinction is a lemming thing, so are cults.

Darwin is nodding. Nodding sadly, we must think -- but he is nodding.

Eck!, they're not a minority where they are; and it would take demographic impacts on a Black-Death scale to alter that. The irony is that the grassroots understanding of epidemiology was better in the 14th Century than it is today. If they had handled that the way we have handled this, it might have reduced European civilization below the point of sustainability.

58 on ventilators andthey are "Running out"?
I though that they were prepared...and that they had had tens of thousands already having been cared for in the ICU in the last wave. At least that is what the Media was telling us.
less than 60 patients on ventilaors and they are out of them.
So which is the truth?

Odd how you will call it the "Trump Flu" or the "Trump Virus" or any of the others you ahve named in your comment.... But won't call it the "China Flu". Shows your true allegience, doesn't it? Kinda asinine there, but that's the way you roll, apparently. Mean and nasty and small whenver you can.

You’re an expert on ventilator statistics now, B? They aren’t exactly available at your nearest Rite Aid. Instead of posing the questions, do your own research instead of sea lioning here.

Sealioning (also spelled sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with persistent requests for evidence or repeated questions, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity.[1][2][3][4] It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate".[5] The term originated with a 2014 strip of the webcomic Wondermark by David Malki.[6]

The troll feigns ignorance and politeness, so that if the target is provoked into making an angry response, the troll can then act as the aggrieved party.[7][8] Sealioning can be performed by a single troll or by multiple ones acting in concert.[9] The technique of sealioning has been compared to the Gish gallop and metaphorically described as a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.[10]

An essay in the collection Perspectives on Harmful Speech Online, published by the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard, noted:

Rhetorically, sealioning fuses persistent questioning—often about basic information, information easily found elsewhere, or unrelated or tangential points—with a loudly-insisted-upon commitment to reasonable debate. It disguises itself as a sincere attempt to learn and communicate. Sealioning thus works both to exhaust a target's patience, attention, and communicative effort, and to portray the target as unreasonable. While the questions of the "sea lion" may seem innocent, they're intended maliciously and have harmful consequences.

— Amy Johnson, Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society (May 2019)[10]
