Well, Fuck. Gene Wilder is Dead.

Gene Wilder, the frizzy-haired actor who brought his deft comedic touch to such unforgettable roles as the neurotic accountant in "The Producers" and the deranged animator of "Young Frankenstein," has died. He was 83.

Wilder's nephew said Monday that the actor and writer died late Sunday at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications from Alzheimer's disease.

My favorites were ANY time he was on screen with Richard Pryor...and particularly the "we gotta convince the cops that you're black" scene in Silver Streak.

RIP,

Gene was a genuinely nice guy who happened to have a talent for deadpan humor. A lot of comedians are, well, jerks. Their humor comes from pain. As did Gene's, but it somehow did not make him into the angry bitter person that many comedians are. He was an amazing man and we will be watching his works for much longer than his life, because his best work will never be replicated no matter how much people try. His style of gentle humor simply isn't found in these angry and bitter times.
