Probably Not a Concidence

After over a century, GE is getting out of the business of making stuff for consumers. And the wages of Americans are stagnant.

Taken together, it's a "no fucking shit" moment. People whose pay hasn't gone up aren't tripping down to the stores to buy new appliances. This is why crap such as why it's really stupid for us to be subsidizing the labor costs of companies like Wal-Mart matters.

GE has been designing and building crap for years now. They ruined their reputation for appliances, so they may as well clear the field for companies willing to make products properly.
Spend a little time searching the web on appliance issues, and you find that GE leads the field on complaints, along with repair techs telling people that their item can't be fixed, due to design flaws, and if they do work on it, they will not guarantee it will continue to function.
I guess they got too big to care.
