Musk wants the monopoly, so SLS will be canceled. This, in spite of it being a better short term solution to a lunar landing. SLS would not require orbital refueling at all. SpaceX has yet to demonstrate in-orbit refueling. Current estimates are 4-8 tanker fills per lunar landing mission.
Also the deregulation of his other businesses will net him more than he invested.

It just shows that Putin is a better business man. Musk paid $100 million. Putin bought Trump and a quite few Republican Congress Peoples and Reich-wing Media for a lot less. Just a loan to Trump and a, "You're in the club now" with a few pats on the back.
