An office being rented by the Clinton campaign caught fire last night in Indiana. What caught my eye, though, was this line:
Homeland security spokeswoman Pam Bright said an investigator from the state fire marshal's office is heading to the scene.
Why the hell are those thugs involved? Why do they even have anything to say in this?
It seems, judging from posts like this, that while we were not paying attention, the Department of Homeland Security has morphed into a national police organization. We already have the FBI, ATFE, Secret Service and probably a gazillion other cops. Why do we need another force of jackbooted thugs tromping about?

Well, now we know where Jack Bauer keeps his office, right?
It occurs to me that the perceived clannishness and my-fief-not-yours attitude of various law enforcement organizations may have actually served an unacknowledged protective function against this sort of semi-fascist crap!
good catch.....
my neighbor keeps saying Germany 1933
If I had to guess, DHS got involved because anything involving the Presidential candidates has the potential to be TERRAH-related.
Plus, DHS has sucked up most of the decent investigators from all the other services.
Iran/Iraq will eventually become recognized as a war among the neocon parts of the military, its corporate industrial support, the CIA, FBI, various police forces, homeland security, and the government. The rest of us citizens are just the ones picked to pay for it all.
Isn't DHS involved because of her Secret Service protection?
I'd have though that the SS would have had their own spokesweasels.
