A Republican US congressman from Ohio has called for federal disaster relief to be withheld from California unless the state reforms its forestry management practices that some blame for the rapid spread of wind-fanned fires that broke on Tuesday.

Warren Davidson’s remarks to Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo on Friday came as California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, urged officials to avoid politicizing the response to the blazes which had killed people and destroyed thousands of homes.

I don't recall Democratic congressmen calling for no disaster relief to southern states after tornados and hurricanes until they revise their building codes and stop putting houses near the shoreline. No, because they are sentient adults who don't go around playing politics with disasters.

But that is not for Republicans. No, Republicans are mean-spirited, petty ghouls.

Nobody is going to withhold aid for Ohio when the inevitable tornado rips through Davidson's district. Because, unlike him, most people are kind and generous in the face of catastrophe.

Davidson, though, is about as despicable and evil a person as they come. He is a walking septic tank, an asshole from his hairline to the soles of his feet.

Six people protesting climate change stormed the 18th green while the leaders were lining up their putts on the final hole of regulation at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship on Sunday, delaying the finish for about five minutes. ... The crowd surrounding the 18th green heckled the protesters by yelling profanities and cheered the police who intervened.

Maybe they should make sure everything they have is plant-based, cut off their electricy service, and then slit their throats in order to limit their climate footprint.

Almost half of the more than 280 pro-Palestinian protesters arrested at Columbia University and City College this week weren’t students or faculty at the schools, according to data released by Mayor Adams’ administration Thursday.

The issue of whether “outside agitators” were behind the encampment protests at Columbia and CCNY that culminated in the short-lived occupation of Columbia’s Hamilton Hall has become a focus of intense debate. Mayor Eric Adams, NYPD officials and college leaders have repeatedly said outsiders were influencing student behavior, while student protest leaders deny that’s the case.

So half of the "Columbia student protesters" had no affiliation with the school.

Compare and contrast that to the Trumpanzees who stormed the Capitol on 1/6/21. Every one of those who were later arrested, charged and convicted (a nearly 100% conviction rate, by the way) were pro-Trump rioters. None of them were people with no affiliation to Trump.

Also, the cops in NYC went in and arrested them on the spot. Unlike the Feds, they didn't let them all go home and then have to round them up later.

Both groups seem to think that they should be given a pass for ciminal behavior. Fuck every one of them.

Another White Nationalist At Work

A white man fatally shot three people inside a Jacksonville, Florida, Dollar General store on Saturday in a predominately Black neighborhood in an attack that the local sheriff called “racially motivated.” The shooter then killed himself.

“He hated black people,” Sheriff T.K. Waters told a news conference. “There is absolutely no evidence the shooter is part of any larger group.”

Waters said the shooter, who was in his 20s, used a Glock handgun and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle with at least one of the firearms painted with a swastika.

Another one of the guys that The Dumbest Man in the U.S. Senate(tm) didn't think was racist at work.

A Really Stable Genius

Imagine this: There's a technology company that has been around awhile. In that sector, its name has global recognition. It has a logo that is recognized by at leasst a billion people. A fairly common verb has become shorthand for using the company's website.

So what does your garden-variety stable genius do? He buys the company, trashes about 70% of its value and then changes the name and logo.

Even that was done with no regard for the law when it comes to doing work on buildings.

At Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco, meanwhile, workers were seen removing the iconic bird and logo Monday until police showed up and stopped them because they didn’t have the proper permits and didn’t tape off the sidewalk to keep pedestrians safe if anything fell.

If there was somebody running the building who knew the rules, chances are that the Fat Turdlet either ordered them to do it anyway or had fired that person beforehand.

I'm semi-surprised that he hasn't tried to sue Marvel Comics over the term "X-Men" because he clearly thinks that he owns that letter.

No Surprise At This

A truck driver who spewed hatred of Jews was convicted Friday of storming a Pittsburgh synagogue and shooting everyone he could find on a Sabbath morning, killing 11 congregants in an act of antisemitic terror for which he could be sentenced to die.

The guilty verdict was a foregone conclusion after Robert Bowers’ lawyers conceded at the trial’s outset that he attacked and killed worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue on Oct. 27, 2018, in the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history. Jurors must now decide whether the 50-year-old should be sent to death row or sentenced to life in prison without parole as the federal trial shifts to a penalty phase expected to last several weeks.

The only surprise is that it took the jury five hours to come back. Thirty minutes should have been enough, since his attorneys had conceded that he was guilty as fuck.

What Is It With These Canadiens?

A Canadian woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to mailing a threatening letter containing the poison ricin to then-President Donald Trump at the White House.

The letter from Pascale Ferrier directing Trump to “give up and remove your application for this election,” was intercepted at a mail sorting facility in September 2020, before it could reach the White House.

The 55-year-old Quebec woman also pleaded guilty to sending similar threatening letters to Texas law enforcement officials. She is expected to be sentenced to 262 months in prison, just short of 22 years, under the terms of a plea deal with prosecutors. A sentencing hearing is set for April.

Between this clown and the lunatic that tried to beat Paul Pelosi to death, what's the deal with these asswipes? They don't have enough weird politics in their own country to occupy their paranoic bozos?

Alex Jones Concedes That He is Full of Shit and Spreads Lies For Money

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones said Wednesday that he now understands it was irresponsible of him to declare the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre a hoax and that he now believes it was “100% real,” a day after the parents of a 6-year-old boy killed in the attack testified about the suffering, death threats and harassment they’ve endured because of what Jones has trumpeted on his media platforms.

“It was ... especially since I’ve met the parents. It’s 100% real,” Jones testified at his trial to determine how much he owes for defaming the parents of a 6-year-old who was among the 20 students and six educators killed in the 2012 attack at the school in Newtown, Connecticut.

Don't be fooled, Jones knew all along that the Sandy Hook Massacre was real. He spread disinformation and lies to all of the low-wattage mouthbreathers who buy his shit so he could make a buck. The families of the murdered children have endured a decade's worth of harassment and death threats because of Alex Jones.

The proper outcome of these trials would be to take every cent Jones has and then turn him into shark chum. But he's so vile they might not eat him. And the courts can't order that he be fed to the sharks.

A man has been arrested after leaving a 3-month-old Husky puppy with its mouth taped shut locked inside a hot car while he gambled at a Las Vegas casino.

The incident occurred on July 20 when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call from security at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino at 3600 S. Las Vegas Boulevard at approximately 3 p.m. when they discovered a puppy locked inside a vehicle on the top floor of their parking garage with its mouth taped shut, police say.

The dog still is not fully recovered. The sadistic perp should also not fully recover.

Republicans have been glomming onto "the great replacement" with both hands.

Born from far-right nationalism, the extremist ideology expounding the view that immigration will ultimately destroy white values and western civilization has found favor not only with media figures, such as the conservative Fox News host Tucker Carlson, but a host of elected politicians and others seeking office.

Those who have convinced themselves Democrats are operating an open-door immigration policy to “replace” Republican voters with people of color and keep themselves in power permanently include Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, chair of her party’s House conference, and JD Vance, the Donald Trump-approved Republican nominee to represent Ohio in the US Senate.

Republicans are blowing steam-whistles to their racist base. They are steam-whistles because the racism is not coded, it is out front for all to see. Stefanik and her ilk might as well walk around wearing white sheets. It's one thing for a bunch of neo-nazis to yammer a racist theory. it is quite another for that to be adopted by a major political party and be broadcast approvingly on a cable news channel. Stefanik, Gingrich, Tuckyo Rose, the TOFF and the rest of that sordid crowd of authoritarian racists.

More than sixty people in this country; Blacks, Hispanics and Jews, have been killed by white supremacists who were espousing that racist line of claptrap. Their blood is, in part, on the hands of the politicians and the talking heads who have been normalizing white supremacy conspiracy theory.

A gunman opened fire with a rifle Saturday at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, in what authorities called a “hate crime and racially motived violent extremism,” killing 10 people and wounding three others before being taken in custody, law enforcement officials said.

Kennedy.”

But for the Supreme Court halting executions in 1972, that little fuck would have been duly stuffed into a gas chamber. Which would have been justice. That asswipe, by shooting RFK, nullified the votes of millions of people and denied the entire country the possibility of voting for Sen. Kennedy in 1968. Arguably, without Sirhan, there would have been no "war on drugs" declared in 1970 and we'd have a lot more of the Constitution intact.

He should have been executed about four million times. But dying in prison is a substitute.

Lazar Hayward, a former N.B.A. player, was arrested in Hawaii last week for trying to enter the state with a fake negative Covid test, the authorities said.

Mr. Hayward, a first-round draft pick in 2010, and a woman traveling with him, Raven Randle had uploaded the fake documents onto Hawaii’s Safe Travels portal, the police on the western Hawaiian island of Kauai said in a statement on Facebook. The state requires unvaccinated travelers to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival unless they present a negative Covid test.

The pair were arrested on Sept. 28 soon after they had flown to Kauai from Los Angeles, the police said. They were immediately sent back to California.

That's a misdemeanor beef. Then they have to spring for more tickets to make their court dates. So this could get very expensive for them before they even go to trial. Which is a reason why they may just plead otu.

Cosby the Rapist Walks

Pennsylvania’s highest court threw out Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction and opened the way for his immediate release from prison Wednesday in a stunning reversal of fortune for the comedian once known as “America’s Dad,” ruling that the prosecutor who brought the case was bound by his predecessor’s agreement not to charge Cosby.

Right. An oral agreement that someone who committed rape wasn't going to be prosecuted?

This is probably a done deal, but he still got to spend two years in the Crossbar Hilton, so there's that. The tossing out of the conviction removes the conviction, but it doesn't change the fact that Cosby was proven to be a rapist.

The conviction was tossed, but he's still guilty as fuck.

Slate Clutches Their Pearls, Again

Slate Magazine said this about the chances for an armed insurgency:

That twenty million number links to an article with this description:

The thing is, nowhere within that article is the 20 million figure even mentioned. It's part of the headline, that's all. The article goes on to undercut Slate's fear-mongering with this paragraph towards the end of the article:

Why that is so doesn't take much thought: Criminals don't care for being shot, which explains why "hot burglaries", those carried out when people are home, are far more common in hoplophobic nations.

Back to Slate: Reaching for support without reading the article is sheer laziness. It can destroy the efficacy of one's argument.[1]

For the sake of argument, let's assume that twenty million people do have carry permits. Slate is assuming that everyone who has a permit always carries one. That, based on my own knowledge of people who have carry permits, is utter hogwash. The percentage of people who have permits and do carry a gun is on the order of 15% or less.

But Slate has one thing correct: Whatever risk exists of greater violence, Trump is fanning the flames with a leaf-blower, He is encouraging violence. And so are the asshats of the far and not-so-far Right.

Here's a legal story about that: West Publishing, a legal publisher, would flag cases with a yellow flag if the case's result had been questioned by another court or with a red flag if one or more points in the case had been overruled by a higher court. So there was some litigation going on, with one party represented by a solo-practitioner and the other party represented by one of the larger white-shoe law firms. The solo lawyer made an argument and cited a case. The white shoe lawyer said that the case had been overruled. The solo said yes, but not for the point of law that I'm relying on.

The judge looked at the case. The solo was right. The end result was that the judge was far more critical of the legal arguments of the bit law firm's legal team and gave more credence to the solo. The solo won.

Waco police arrested a 30-year-old woman Wednesday morning on driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault charges after she chased at least two cars and intentionally crashed into one, later telling police she thought she was chasing a pedophile who had kidnapped a girl, arrest affidavits state.

Officers arrested Cecilia Celeste Fulbright, of Waco, at about 10 a.m., after she crashed into a barrier near the gas pumps at H-E-B on North 19th Street, police reported.

A driver called police at about 9:20 a.m. to report a small red car had chased them on North 19th Street but that they were able to get away, according to the affidavit.

About 20 minutes later, another driver reported the red car was chasing her and that the driver, Fulbright, was yelling at her and rammed her car multiple times before the caller pulled into the H-E-B parking lot on 19th Street, the affidavit states.

According to some of her friends, the Bag of Nuts is both a Trump supporter and a QAnon believer.

Fulbright contacted Molina after getting out of jail, seemingly unaware that she had done anything wrong. Molina said that Fulbright told her that one of the cops who arrested her had winked at her and told her she was in “good girl jail” because “they knew I was doing good.” Molina said she confronted her ex-roommate about the seriousness of her actions but that her concerns were “not registering at all.”

“I feel like I’m mourning my friend’s death,” Molina said. “I don’t know her. Like, I have no idea who this person is. … That’s pretty much how we all feel.”

Five days after the incident, Molina sent a text message to Fulbright asking her if she was still “following the white rabbit,” a common slogan for QAnon adherents that describes the “researching” of the conspiracy theory. Fulbright responded in the affirmative.

“Q is I… Q is you… Q is us… it’s literally data… collected by the white hats and then turned into videos and shit. But okay… yeah I follow Q,” Fulbright wrote back on Aug. 17.

These nut jobs are out there and they can be dangerous; attacking strangers based on some wild-ass conspiracy theory.

The In-Cell Incel

A Virginia man inspired by notorious “incel” mass shooter Elliott Rodger fantasized about blowing up a shopping mall and killing “hot cheerleaders,” according to an FBI affidavit.

On June 2, Cole Carini of Richlands, Virginia, showed up at the Clinch Valley Medical Center with a missing hand. Several fingers on Carini’s other hand were also gone, and he had shrapnel wounds to the neck and throat. A local sheriff’s deputy arrived to interview Carini, who claimed his gruesome injuries were the result of a gardening accident.

I love that Stumpy claims that he lost one hand, several fingers on his other hand, and got shrapnel wounds from a lawnmower accident. It doesn't seem that he explained how chunks of his flesh ended up being embedded in the ceiling of his bedroom from the alleged lawnmower accident.
