Rudy Giuliani reached a deal Thursday that lets the cash-strapped ex-New York City mayor keep his homes and belongings, including prized World Series rings, in exchange for unspecified compensation and a promise to never again speak ill of two former Georgia elections workers who won a $148 million defamation judgment against him.

That's not going to stick. Somebody is going to stick a mic in his face, whether in an interview or in a podcast, they'll ask him about it and he'll run his mouth again. Because he can't help himself. He's been subject to gag orders and yet he's blathered on and been dragged in for contempt hearings.

So he'll be back in court on this. Bet on it.

Rudy Giuliani was found in contempt of court on Friday for continuing to spread lies about two former Georgia election workers after a jury awarded the women a $148m defamation judgment.

Federal judge Beryl Howell in Washington DC is the second federal judge in a matter of days to find the former New York City mayor in contempt of court.

Howell found that Giuliani violated court orders barring him from defaming Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman. She ordered him to review trial testimony and other materials from the case and warned him that future violations could result in possible jail time.

He keeps spreading his lies and it may land him in the slammer.

Or one can only hope.

Rudy Giuliani was found in contempt of court Monday for failing to properly respond to requests for information as he turned over assets to satisfy a $148 million defamation judgment granted to two Georgia election workers.

He seems to think that he gets the same pass as his Orange God when it comes to the legal system.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas failed to publicly disclose additional travel on GOP megadonor Harlan Crow’s private jet, a top Democratic senator who is backing an election-year push to tighten the high court’s ethics rules said Monday.

Thomas and his wife, Virginia, took a round-trip flight between Hawaii and New Zealand in November 2010, according to international flight records maintained by Customs and Border Protection, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., wrote.

Crow has a Bombardier Global Express, which costs roughly ten grand an hour to fly. Washington, DC to New Zealand is a 17,000 mile round-trip, which is over 30 hours of flying. So, three hundred grand, give or take, to make that trip. I doubt if Crow's jet has airline-style seating, plus they probably took a relief crew with them. My SWAG is that Crooked Clarence and QAnon Ginny's seats cost around fifty grand, and you can bet your ass that they weren't paying for hotel rooms or food in New Zealand.

But to hear Crooked Clarence and his friends tell it, Crow gets nothing from showering a sitting Supreme Court justice with such favors. In other words, are you going to believe Clarence or your lying eyes?

Ellis has previously pleaded not guilty to fraud, forgery and conspiracy charges in the Arizona case. Seventeen other people charged in the case have pleaded not guilty to the felony charges — including Giuliani, Trump presidential chief of staff Mark Meadows and 11 Republicans who submitted a document to Congress falsely declaring Trump had won Arizona.

Who wants to go to prison for Giuliani? Nobody, I guess.

A New York appeals court in Manhattan ruled that Giuliani, who had already had his New York law license suspended in 2021 for false statements he made after the election, is now “disbarred from the practice of law, effective immediately, and until the further order of this Court, and his name stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York.”

About time.

Nixon got disbarred for Watergate, but he wouldn't have, now, because the Supremes wouldn't have had a problem with what he did.

A jury awarded $148 million in damages on Friday to two former Georgia election workers who sued Rudy Giuliani for defamation over lies he spread about them in 2020 that upended their lives with racist threats and harassment.

The damages verdict follows emotional testimony from Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, who tearfully described becoming the target of a false conspiracy theory pushed by Giuliani and other Republicans as they tried to keep then-President Donald Trump in power after he lost the 2020 election.

There was an audible gasp in the courtroom when the jury foreperson read aloud the $75 million award in punitive damages for the women. Moss and Freeman were each awarded another roughly $36 million in other damages.

There is a point that people should have figured out by now: If you hitch your wagon to the TOFF, you will fall into shit. Your reputation will be shredded and you will be lucky if you can afford to live in a refrigerator carton under an I-10 overpass.

Freezin' Mitch (and Putzim Rudy)

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell appeared to briefly freeze up and was unable to answer a question from a reporter at an event in Kentucky on Wednesday, weeks after he had a similar episode in Washington.

According to video from a local news station, the 81-year-old McConnell was asked whether he would run for reelection in 2026. The senator asked the reporter to repeat the question before trailing off and staring straight ahead for about 10 seconds.

A woman standing at the front of the room with McConnell asked him whether he heard the question and she repeated it. When McConnell did not answer, she announced to the room that “we’re going to need a minute.” McConnell eventually answered two additional questions — though not the one about a 2026 campaign — and was halting and appeared to have some difficulty speaking. The woman then ended the news conference and McConnell left the room, walking slowly.

This all seemed to begin after he fell and hit his head. Concussions can really mess up a person.

Meanwhile, Rudy was playing fuck-around games with the case in which he is being sued for defamation. Today, he found out:

A federal judge on Wednesday held Rudy Giuliani liable in a defamation lawsuit brought by two Georgia election workers who say they were falsely accused of fraud, ruling that the former New York city mayor gave “only lip service” to complying with his legal obligations while trying to portray himself as the victim in the case.

U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said the punishment was necessary because Giuliani had ignored his duty as a defendant to turn over information requested by election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea’ ArShaye Moss, as part of their lawsuit.

Most practicing lawyers are smart enough not to get caught in a discovery dispute. But Rudy isn't a practicing lawyer and, when he was doing law over three decades ago, he was a glory-hogging prosecutor. He has no business driving the bus on a case in which he's being sued. Like his Orange Overlord, he apparently let his ego get in the way. And it's going to cost him, bigly.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says Republican lawmakers may consider an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden over unproven claims of financial misconduct, responding to enormous GOP pressure to demonstrate support for Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

For one thing, compared to the grifting of the TOFF's family (see, $2 billion slush fund given by the Saudis to Jared the Wonder Boy), whatever Hunter may or may not have done is going to look like pretty small beer. Which the Democrats will happily point out. The Democrats will also happily point out all of the pressing issues confronting the country, but the MAGA Morons are laser-focused on bringing down Biden's son, who has had no role in his father's administration. Unlike Jared the Wonder Boy.

Oh, sure, all of that plays well for the MAGA Traitors. But as for indpendents and the non-MAGA Republicans, it won't play so well.

Speaking of MAGA Morons, Bozo Rudy had to concede, in court, that he has been lying though his teeth about election fraud.

Rudy Giuliani has conceded that he made public comments falsely claiming two Georgia election workers committed ballot fraud during the 2020 presidential race but is arguing that the statements were protected by the First Amendment.

That assertion by Giuliani, who as part of Donald Trump’s legal team tried to overturn results in battleground states, came in a filing Tuesday in a lawsuit by Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. Their lawsuit from December 2021 accused the former New York City mayor of defaming them by falsely stating that they had engaged in fraud while counting ballots at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

They're going to still have to prove damages, but I suspect that won't be a difficult lift.

Elsewhere, another Republican candidate for president has been engaging in financial fuckery, with possible foreign funding.

A government watchdog group is asking federal regulators to investigate a $500,000 contribution to a super PAC backing Miami Mayor Francis Suarez’s presidential bid, citing possible campaign finance laws violations.

The nonpartisan group Campaign Legal Center said it filed the complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday. The complaint says the business PassionForest, LLC, which sells artificial flowers on Amazon.com, did not have the financial means to make such a large contribution and was instead used to hide the identities of the true contributors to the political action committee America for Everyone, now called SOS America.

Campaign Legal Center also says the artificial flower shop accused in the scheme filed a trademark application listing a Chinese address and the seller information listed by Amazon.com shows a ZIP code in Shenzhen, in southeastern China. The group says the scheme could have been meant to hide foreign contributions, which are prohibited.

Suarez's superPAC wasted no time in throwing down the race card. Which one can take as a tacit admission of "OK, ya got me", if one is so inclined.

Finally, DeSantis's campaign got caught flirting with Nazi themes and had to do a ritual firing. Which should surprise nobody.

A woman who said she worked for Rudy Giuliani during the last two years of the Trump administration alleged in a wide-ranging lawsuit that Giuliani, the former president’s personal attorney, discussed selling presidential pardons and detailed plans to overturn the 2020 election results.

In a 70-page complaint filed in state court in New York on Monday, Noelle Dunphy said that after Giuliani hired her in January 2019 he sexually assaulted and harassed her, refused to pay her wages and often made "sexist, racist, and antisemitic remarks," adding that she had recordings of numerous interactions with him.

If there is any proof, one would hope than charges will be forthcoming.

Rudy Giuliani is a target of the criminal investigation into possible illegal attempts by then-President Donald Trump and others to interfere in the 2020 general election in Georgia, prosecutors informed attorneys for the former New York mayor on Monday.

The revelation that Giuliani, an outspoken Trump defender, could face criminal charges from the investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis edges the probe closer to the former president. Willis has said she is considering calling Trump himself to testify before the special grand jury, and the former president has hired a criminal defense attorney in Atlanta.

So now we know that a grand jury is looking into all this. The wheels sre grinding.

Cough it Up; Trumpist Lawyers Ed.

Michigan officials on Wednesday demanded that lawyers who unsuccessfully sued to overturn former President Donald Trump's election defeat in the state pay about $200,000 to reimburse for legal fees and related costs.

U.S. District Judge Linda Parker ruled last month that state and local election officials in Michigan were entitled to reimbursement of their legal fees, but has not yet determined the exact amount. The judge will now review the $200,000 request to determine if it is reasonable.

It's not unusual for judges to knock down the requested fees a bit, but this is still going to sting them alittle.

The beauty of it is if the Trumpist lawyers appeal the award and lose, then they'll also get to pay the legal fees of both the state and the city of Detroit for the appeal(s).

This couldn't happen to a nicer and more deserving pack of clowns.

The Disgraced Asshole of Orange wanted to use the Feds to stop comedians from making fun of him.

Same with Late Night Shows. Should Federal Election Commission and/or FCC look into this?”

It was, on its face, a ridiculous question and threat, as SNL is obviously satire, and therefore a form of protected speech in America that pissed-off commanders-in-chief have no authority to directly subvert. However, then-President Trump went further than simply tweeting his displeasure with the late-night comedians and SNL writers’ room. The internal discussions that followed, between the former leader of the free world and some of his political and legal advisers, once again underscored just how much Trump wanted to use the full weight and power of the U.S. government to punish his personal enemies.

According to two people familiar with the matter, Trump asked advisers and lawyers in early 2019 about what the Federal Communications Commission, the court system, and—most confusingly to some Trump lieutenants—the Department of Justice could do to probe or mitigate SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, and other late-night comedy mischief-makers.

Autocrats, and wannabee autocrats, are notoriously thin-skinned. They know that their weapon of fear doesn't work very well if people are laughing at them. That applied, in spaces, to The Mangolorian.

Every objective study of the 2020 election has found it to be a free and fair election, including, most recently, in Michigan:

State Senate Republicans who investigated Michigan’s 2020 presidential election for months concluded there was no widespread or systemic fraud and urged the state attorney general to consider probing people who have made baseless allegations about the results in Antrim County to raise money or publicity “for their own ends.”

None of that will tamp down the Big Lie of the Scrfer of Hamberders or those who are too afraid to do anything other than parrot his lies (which includes every Republican senator). They know that they can't win in a battle of ideas, that a majority of Americans doen't buy their schtick. An appeals court suspended Rudy Giuliani from practicing law in New York because he made false statements while trying to get courts to overturn Donald Trump’s loss in the presidential race.

An attorney disciplinary committee said in its motion to suspend Giuliani’s license that there was “uncontroverted evidence” that Giuliani had made false statements to the courts, the public and lawmakers as he pushed theories that the election was stolen through fraud.

There are four appellate courts in New York State, called "Departments". Each Department administers the discipline for the attorneys who practice within that Department.

Lying to judges is one of those things that can get arttorneys in real trouble. (Snacking on the client's own money is a big no-no.) Attorney discipline is sort of a universally-reciprocal thing, in that if an attorney is admitted in more than one state, or to Federal courts, being suspended or disbarred in one state is effective in all of them.

I don't think Rudy's likely to be standing on the side of the road with a cardboard sign anytime soon. But Rudy now is feeling the full force of working for Individual-1: He got stiffed on his fees and his reputation is in tatters. The U.S. Navy has swapped more than 1,600 parts among its new Virginia-class submarines since 2013 to ease maintenance bottlenecks as components that are supposed to last 33 years wear out decades sooner.

Parts are being shuttled regularly among the nuclear-powered fast-attack submarines so that vessels in the $166 billion class built by General Dynamics Corp. and Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. can return to operations, according to data from the Naval Sea Systems Command and the Congressional Budget Office.

This isn't quite as bad in the 1970s, when the primary task of shipboard security watches was to stop the theft of parts and equipment by the sailors of other ships.[1] But the under-funding of spare parts and maintenance is a perennial problem. Building ships, tanks and airplanes is sexy. Congresscritters like that, because it's splashy and the jobs created can be pointed at. But buying repair parts isn't as sexy, so it gets underfunded.

The DoJ Did Stop the Attempted Theft of the Election

The WaPo has a long story about the pressure Trump and his toadies were putting on the Department of Justice to overturn the election. Among other things, Rudy the Clown was really pissed because the then acting AG, Jeff Rosen (after Barr tucked his tail and ran), told Rudy that if he had evidence of fraud, to take it to the FBI's Washington Field Office, like anyone else who would have evidence of crimes.

Mark Meadows, who was Trump's COS, also pressured the DoJ to look into the whacko claim that the Italians had used military satellites to steal the election.

What happened is that the Department of Justice refused to sign onto Trump's quasi-legalistic coup attempt. That left the Tyrant of Orange with the sole option of egging on his low-wattage supporters to attack the Capitol.

Which they did.

As a federal investigation into Rudolph W. Giuliani escalates, his advisers have been pressing aides to former President Donald J. Trump to reach into a $250 million war chest to pay Mr. Giuliani for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election on Mr. Trump’s behalf.

As the article points out, besides the criminal probe, Rudy is also being sued in civil court for defamation by the companies who make voting machines.

The chances of Rudy getting his legal costs covered by the Tangerine Wannabee Tyrant are close to nnexistent. For all of his histrionics and court-filings, Rudy never prevailed. He lost everything of substance. He wasn't able to come up with a single win to legally overturn the results of a free and fair election.

One thing about Miss Information....

....while he has a track record of not paying people fully for services rendered and goods provided, he sure as hell doesn't pay for failure, let alone failure that has made a mockery of him. For that's what Rudy, the Holder of News Conferences Next to a Porno Shop, has done in spades.

Actually, there may be a legitimate reason for stiffing Rudy. If the Orange Draft-Dodger pays Rudy, it couold be conceivably argued that Rudy's defamatory statements were made as an agent of the Failed Seditionist-in-Chief. Which then could mean that the Fuhrer of Mar-a-Lago could be added as an additional defendant to the lawsuits.

Federal agents raided Rudy Giuliani’s Manhattan home and office on Wednesday, seizing computers and cellphones in a major escalation of the Justice Department’s investigation into the business dealings of former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer.

Giuliani, the 76-year-old former New York City mayor once celebrated for his leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, has been under federal scrutiny for several years over his ties to Ukraine. The dual searches sent the strongest signal yet that he could eventually face federal charges.

Agents searched Giuliani’s home on Madison Avenue and his office on Park Avenue, people familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press. The warrants, requiring approval from the top levels of the Justice Department, signify prosecutors believe they have probable cause that Giuliani committed a federal crime — though they don’t guarantee charges will materialize.

Given that this is the epitome of a high-profile case, the reading of the tea-leaves would be that Rudy is in serious trouble.

A judge refused Wednesday to release body camera video showing North Carolina deputies shooting and killing a Black man, ruling that making the video public at this stage could jeopardize the investigation into Andrew Brown Jr.’s death.

Judge Jeffery Foster said he believed the videos contained information that could harm the ongoing investigation or threaten the safety of people seen in the footage. He said the video must remain out of public view for at least 30 days.

“The release at this time would create a serious threat to the fair, impartial and orderly administration of justice,” Foster said.

The judge is looking at this far too narrowly. In the present era, there is a lot more distrust about the righteousness of police shootings these days. Not releasing the footage smells of a coverup along the lines of the killing of Laquan McDonald. Every day that they sit on the footage gives rise to more and more belief that the cops murdered Mr. Brown and that the authorities are trying to figure out how to sweep the killing under the rug.

A defamation law firm representing Dominion Voting Systems has sent letters to White House counsel Pat Cipollone and President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani instructing them to preserve all records related to the company at the center of Trump's conspiracy theories and warning Giuliani that legal action is "imminent."

Through two well-known defamation attorneys, Dominion Voting Systems sent letters to Cipollone and Giuliani Tuesday, demanding Giuliani stop making "defamatory claims against Dominion" and ensure there is "no confusion about your obligation to preserve and retain all documents relating to Dominion and your smear campaign against the company." The attorneys told Cipollone their preservation request is vast and includes conversations White House officials had with attorneys like Giuliani or Sidney Powell regarding Dominion.

A Dominion executive has already sued a passel of people and organizations in the Right Wing Noise Machine:

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Colorado district court, [Dominion's director of product strategy and security, Eric] Coomer's lawyers say the allegations are "false and baseless" and have caused "immense injury to Dr. Coomer's reputation, professional standing, safety, and privacy."

The lawsuit names as defendants the Trump campaign, Rudy Giuliani, Trump adviser Sidney Powell, conservative media outlets One America News Network and Newsmax Media, the right-wing website Gateway Pundit, and Colorado businessman and activist Joseph Oltmann, among others.

As anyone who has sat through more than five minutes of a presentation on libel law, truth is an absolute defense to a libel claim. But these clowns are going to have to have proof that is acceptable to a court, which isn't a bunch of QAnon conspiracy horseshit.

A Sign of How Badly Trump Has Degraded Our Electoral System

{Lame Duck] President Donald Trump [Loser, '20] still won’t bring himself to concede the election he decisively lost to President-elect Joe Biden. But he’s now acknowledging he will leave the White House if Biden’s win is affirmed by the Electoral College, which is firmly on track to do just that in a few weeks.

That it's even a question as to whether or not Trump would acknowledge the vote in the Electoral College shows just how far he's dragged down this country.

How far, you might ask. This far:

Yet the current campaign by the president and his allies is different in one important way: total impact. The president has brought disinformation to an audience that the IRA could only dream of. In the week following Election Day, the hashtag #StopTheSteal was used over 1.5 million times on Twitter. Russian disinformation operations have shown some success, but Trump’s campaign has been in an entirely different league in terms of impact. The aftershock of Russian disinformation operations in 2016 strained some Americans’ trust in the electoral process Here, the president—armed with baseless conspiracies about voter fraud—is challenging that trust like never before. No need for Russian trolls; this damage is completely self-inflicted.

Let that sink in for a moment. Trump is doing Putin's work in attacking the electoral system in this country.

Sadly, millions of Trump's supporters have fallen into line. Whether they have simply drunk too deeply of the Trumpist Kool-Aid or they really have no loyalty to their country is a question to ponder. And those two postions aren't mutually exclusive.

That means if you are still following Trump's line on this, you may wave Old Glory around as much as you want and believe you are being patriotic, but you are not. You are either delusional or a traitor. Or both.

Meanwhile, Trump the Loser keeps on losing in court, where facts still matter:

Because Trump can't stand the idea of losing, he'll cheerfully wreck the electoral system with his baseless charges of fraud. But that's to be expected. For if one thing is clear, Trump doesn't give a shit about this country, or anything else, other than himself.

Given the threadbareness of the case for Trump, I would not be surprised if some from his legal team end up before their respective state bars on ethics charges.

That goes double for Rudy.
