President Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order raising tariffs on imports from Brazil to 50 percent, escalating his fight with the largest South American economy.

The order Trump signed declares a national emergency under a 1977 law he has used to justify his imposition of sweeping tariffs since taking office in January. It increases the existing 10 percent tariff on Brazil to 50 percent, citing Brazil’s “unusual and extraordinary policies and actions harming U.S. companies, the free speech rights of U.S. persons, U.S. foreign policy, and the U.S. economy.”

Except that is one steaming pile of lies. The US has a trade surplus with Brazil. The only thing that Brazil is doing is prosecuting Trump's best buddy, Jair Bolsonaro, for trying to do what Trump also tried to do: Stage a violent coup to overturn a free and fair election.

President da Silva has more guts and drive than did Joe Biden and Merrick Garland, in that da Silva is vigorously going after the head of the coup attempt. Here, well, we all know how they dithered and stumbled and fiddle-fucked around.

Not "hired her away". Not "made a better offer". No, he used the word "stole", for he regarded her as his property and he still does. He's not upset that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked Giuffre and raped her, only that she was "stolen".

ICE Lies With Impunity

US immigration officers made false and misleading statements in their reports about several Los Angeles protesters they arrested during the massive demonstrations that rocked the city in June, according to federal law enforcement files obtained by the Guardian.

Out of nine “assault” and “impeding” felony cases the justice department filed immediately after the start of the protests and promoted by the attorney general, Pam Bondi, prosecutors dismissed seven of them soon after filing the charges.

In reports that led to the detention and prosecution of at least five demonstrators, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents made false statements about the sequence of events and misrepresented incidents captured on video.

One DHS agent accused a protester of shoving an officer, when footage appeared to show the opposite: the officer forcefully pushed the protester.

"Testilying" is an old tradition of bad and brutal cops and the ICEstapo is living down to that. The saving grace, nowadays, is that somebody is always taking video of what the cops are doing. That has been true since a BART cop murdered Oscar Grant 16 years ago.

You can bet the farm that not a single one of those lying ICE goons will suffer any consequences for their offical lies.

A Tucson Sector Border Patrol agent has been indicted on 24 felony charges, including 10 counts of child sex trafficking, the latest in a series of sexual-misconduct convictions or charges against U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees in Arizona.

Willcox border agent Bart Conrad Yager, 39, was also charged with six counts of “pandering,” or encouraging someone to engage in prostitution; one count of attempted child sex trafficking; and two counts of fraud, between July 2023 and March 2024 in Cochise County, indictments from the Cochise County Attorney’s Office show.

On Thursday, county prosecutors also charged Yager with five drug-related felonies: possession or use of the anabolic steroid trenbolone and testosterone; sale or transportation of trenbolone and testosterone; and possession of drug paraphernalia, all in 2025.

A Venezuelan Little League baseball team will not be allowed to participate in a championship tournament because the team was denied travel visas to the U.S.

Little League International said on Friday the Cacique Mara Little League team from Maracaibo, Venezuela will not participate in the Senior League Baseball World Series in South Carolina this year, despite qualifying for the tournament, after being unable to obtain visas.

The pending merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media was formally approved by the Trump administration on Thursday, concluding months of regulatory uncertainty.

FCC commissioners voted 2-1 along party lines to give the $8 billion deal a green light. The approval means that Skydance can complete the deal and take control of Paramount in the coming weeks.

They only had to cough up two-tenths of a percent of the value to the Senile Orange Syphilitic in order to get approval of the deal, which his mentor, Vladdie, would think was extraordinarily cheap.

Those who believe there is no connection between CBS/Paramount settling Trump's baseless lawsuit for $16 million probably are off-the-charts on the naivety index.
