The Orange Sundowner terminated trade talks with Canada because he didn't like the ad that Doug Ford ran.
Onions have thicker skins than that Old Malignant Felon-in-Chief. He doesn't just have a glass jaw, he has one that fractures with a light touch. Say something he doesn't like and he gets so, so outraged. Tweener girls have more resiliency to insults than the Document Hoarder of Mar-a-Lago.

Question About Foreign Relation
If we've managed to piss off the Canadians this much, do we have any friends left?

Canadian Liberal Party to Send Gift Basket to the FLOSS
Mark Carney used his victory speech to claim Donald Trump wanted to “break us” as he led Canada’s Liberal party to a fourth term in office, in a race that was upended by threats and aggression from the US president.
The Liberal triumph capped a miraculous political resurrection and marked a landmark victory for Carney, the former central banker and political novice who only recently succeeded Justin Trudeau as prime minister.
...
Mirroring a theme of the campaign, Carney told election-night supporters that Trump wanted to “break us, so that America can own us”, adding: “That will never, ever happen,” to shouts from the crowd.
He also gave a stark assessment of a world order once defined by an integrated global trading system with the US at the centre, saying such a system was over, and he pledged to reshape Canada’s relationships with other nations.
“We are over the shock over American betrayal. But we will never forget the lessons,” he said.
The Liberal party in Canada was on life support, heading for an epic beat-down, but then came the FLOSS on his mission to make everyone else in the world despise the United States. It made the Conservatives so unpopular in Canada that even their party leader lost the seat he's held for two decades.

What Is It With These Canadiens?
A Canadian woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to mailing a threatening letter containing the poison ricin to then-President Donald Trump at the White House.
The letter from Pascale Ferrier directing Trump to “give up and remove your application for this election,” was intercepted at a mail sorting facility in September 2020, before it could reach the White House.
The 55-year-old Quebec woman also pleaded guilty to sending similar threatening letters to Texas law enforcement officials. She is expected to be sentenced to 262 months in prison, just short of 22 years, under the terms of a plea deal with prosecutors. A sentencing hearing is set for April.
Between this clown and the lunatic that tried to beat Paul Pelosi to death, what's the deal with these asswipes? They don't have enough weird politics in their own country to occupy their paranoic bozos?

Yet Another Illegal Alien Committing Crimes!
[The Asswipe Who attacked Mr. Pelosi] is a Canadian citizen who legally entered the United States in 2000 but has stayed long after his visa expired, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
A fucking Canadian-- what, exactly, is his dog in the American political fight? He's not a citizen, he's not a premanent resident, he can't vote, he's here illegally.
But what he is, is a foreign political terrorist.
Ship his ass to Gitmo.

When the Elephants are Stomping in Rage, Wise Mice Hide
Canada, on the other hand, has gotten caught out in the open.
First U.S President* Donald Trump attacked Canada on trade. Then Saudi Arabia punished it for speaking up for human rights. Now China has the country in its cross-hairs, detaining two Canadians in apparent retaliation for the arrest of a top Chinese tech executive on behalf of the United States.Lesson to the world: If you take a stand, Trump will not have your back if there is any blowback. He will throw you under the bus, all day, every day.
Canada is caught between two super powers and taking the punishment — and its ally to the south has been conspicuously absent in coming to its aid.

An Opportunity for Canadians to Eat Our Lunch
If your job is arranging and booking events in Canada, you've been handed a golden opportunity to poach events from the United States.
Not counting Canada and Mexico, this country received over 38 million visitors in 2015. Those people spend money, about $4,400 per visit.
These stories have a ripple effect. The Customs goons are having a real economic impact, over what they already have had.
The irony isn’t lost on Mem Fox. The author of books advocating tolerance and acceptance was detained by U.S. immigration officials as she arrived in America to give a talk about the importance of tolerance and acceptance. ... Fox was on her way from Australia to a conference in Milwaukee on Feb. 6, scheduled to speak about this very theme, when she was detained by immigration officers at Los Angeles International Airport. She was held for just under two hours, she says, and aggressively questioned about her visa status.Meanwhile, in Texas:
A French historian on his way to a conference in Texas was detained for 10 hours by US border officials and threatened with deportation. Our country is presenting a very ugly face to the world.

Dear Canada: What the Fuck?-- Snowflakes Meet Yoga Edition.
In studios across the nation, as many as 20 million Americans practice yoga every day. Few worry that their downward dogs or warrior poses disrespect other cultures. How does this even make sense?
But yoga comes from India, once a British colony. And now, at one Canadian university, a yoga class designed to include disabled students has been canceled after concerns the practice was taken from a culture that "experienced oppression, cultural genocide and diasporas due to colonialism and western supremacy," according to the group that once sponsored it.
Rock and roll has its origins in music that was mainly African-American. But nobody with five functioning brain cells has suggested banning rock and roll because of cultural imperialism. We damn near bombed Japan flat, between fire raids and atomic bombs, are we now not supposed to eat sushi? Hell, American sushi is different from Japanese sushi, but we still call it "sushi".
Yoga, in the West, isn't a religious ritual. It's stretching and exercise. Maybe we should call it "Agoy", but then that'll just confuse a lot of Jews. "The Exercise Formerly Known as Yoga Before the Stupid Snowflakes Got Upset" is too long. TEFKAYBSSGU? (You're all welcome to come up with a better acronym.)
I don't know what's going to happen when these hypersensative snowflakes get out into the working world and find out that (a) they don't get praise or awards for just showing up and (b) nobody will give a fuck if they're offended by things. But that's probably blog fodder for another time.
UPDATE: In California, "yoga = religion" has already been litigated by the Christian Taliban. They lost.

O Canada
Today is "Canada Day", the day that celebrates when the British Parliament passed a law to unite the separate Canadian colonies into one in 1867, an act that got passed primarily because the Pommies had gotten tired of running the place.*
Which, of course, wasn't really independence.**
Canada didn't become a fully-independent nation until possibly 1931 or 1982, depending on what your definition of "independence" is. Which is probably why it took the Canadians about sixty or so years after the enactment of that law for them to get around to celebrating it.
__________________________________
* Also, if the Americans invaded, the Brits wanted the option to just say "oh, well" and forget about it. Which would have been difficult for them to do if they still owned it (something the Argies found out the hard way).
** When the Brits declared war in 1914, Canada, as well as Australia and New Zealand, were dragged into the war whether they liked it or not.

The Average IQ of Canada Just Went Up a Couple of Points
The Canadian Usurper has been granted his wish to be kicked out of Canada.
Alberta-born Sen. Ted Cruz has given up his Canadian dual citizenship. The renunciation became official on May 14, roughly 9 months after he learned he wasn’t only an American. He's also a Cuban citizen, but nobody seems to be too concerned about that.
Cruz received notification by mail on Tuesday at his home in Houston.
“He’s pleased to receive the notification and glad to have this process finalized,” said spokeswoman Catherine Frazier.

Oh, Those Dangerous Canadians!
Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney was making headlines Tuesday after canceling an appearance in Toronto, reportedly citing safety concerns. ... "After speaking with their security advisors, they changed their mind on coming to the event," [ Ryan]Ruppert told CTV Network. They "decided it was better for their personal safety they stay out of Canada."I call "Bullshit". What Cheney was afraid of, in my opinion, was being served with an arrest warrant for various and sundry war crimes.
He should be, but only because we are too gutless to clean up our own mess.

It is Illegal To Listen to This Song in Canada
"Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits
Seems that the Canadian censors say the use of the word "faggot" is offensive to one hypersensitive Newfie, so they've banned the song.
Nice to see that the Canadians have their analogues to the wackos in this country who have made much of broadcast television into meaningless pablum.

Oh. Canada.
Today is Canada Day, which celebrates the day in 1867 that the British Government, by passing the British North American Act, said to the Canadians: "OK, you want your own country? Fine! Stop bugging us."
Of course, it really wasn't full independence, which is probably why the Canadians had to give the day a kind of a generic name. The British Crown retained quite a bit of control over Canada. For one thing, the British government retailed the sole power to amend the Canadian constitution until 1949. The Brits also retained control of the Canadian armed forces until 1931; the Commander-in-Chief of Canada's military is still Queen Elizabeth II.
So happy Sort of Nominal Loosening of Control by the Crown Day!

The Bushification of Canada, Part 2
They say they are going to change the ordinance, but I'm betting that they are just trying to run the clock out. Or, in plain-speech, they are lying.
I once thought Canada was a bastion of freedom and liberty. But it seems that they will sell their ideas out for Olympic gelt as fast as possible.
The [Vancouver] ordinance prohibits the posting of signs that aren’t approved by the city, except for those celebrating the 2010 Winter Olympics. The law applies in a 40-block area downtown. If I lived there, I'd be really tempted to paint the side of my house with the Pepsi logo on one side and "Coke Sucks, Support Freedom of Speech" on the other side. It's really amusing how almost every government that trumpets "freedom of speech" interprets that to mean "speech we agree with, otherwise, shut the frell up."
The city also won provincial approval giving enforcement officials the right to enter private homes and businesses on 24- hours’ notice and remove any offending signs at the owner’s expense. An earlier law required two weeks’ notice.

The Bushification of Canada
Canadian customs goons are now asking foreign reporters what they are going to cover. They seem to be really paranoid that somebody is going to write something nasty about the 2010 Winter Olympics.
They must have been taking lessons from either our Department of Homeland Stupidity or from the Soviet Union's customs inspectors.

That would be our own Tsar of the Baboons.
I'd embed these two campaign ads, but it seems they are self-launching, which is a real pain in the ass.
So go here and here.
