Orange Felon Can't Tell Me What to Do

Words of Advice:

I Am Shocked, Shocked, to Learn That....

... the average supporter of the Tea-Bagger movement is white, older, relatively well-off and Republican. They even think that Chimpy did a good job and they seem to gloss over how much the Bush Administration did to jack up the Federal deficit under the IOKIYAR Theory.

Yeah, who'd have ever thought that? A bunch of rich old white guys with guns, not exactly the scariest concept out there.

Hypocritical bunch, too, as they want to cut government spending, but hands off of Social Security and Medicare.

Oh, and they also have a tendency to be a bag of racist pricks, though the poll sort of seemed to gloss over that point.

Men In Space

Because, as Neil deGrasse Tyson put it, no one names schools after robotic space probes.

You Have to Tell the Story Right

There is a flap going on about Cal State University's trying to get the Former Half-Term Governor of Alaska to come out and speak about something-or-other.[1] A lot of the flap has to do with the somewhat outlandish terms for having said 1/2-term governor show up, including that all questions have to be pre-screened and that she travels in the style that she has recently become accustomed to.

But this is what caught my eye: Compare, if you will, this statement by Cal State President Shirvani, denying that they ever would have destroyed documents:
"We have absolutely never, nobody has been asked to shred any document regarding Gov. Palin."
with this one, by Cal State Vice President Gajic-Bruyea:
"We believe, and campus police are investigating, that someone broke into my office and stole the document from my recycling bin."
There is a little bit of inconsistency there, no?

Thanks, field!

The field negro was the first big blogger to bookmark me and give me a mention for this post when I was starting this blog.

Now he has me listed, for now, as the "blog that he is feeling".

I am truly honored.

Thanks, field.

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off to Leavenworth You Go!

The Army is preparing to court-martial some idiot "birther" doctor for refusing to deploy to Afghanistan.

The idiot birther's commanding officer, the commander of the Walter Reed Medical Brigade, was awarded the Medal of Honor, along with the Silver Star and Bronze Star, so don't expect any slack to be given by him to Dr. Birther.

An oxygen tank exploded in the Service Module of Apollo 13. The successful return of the crew was a triumph of jury-rig engineering and a good deal of luck.

The good luck extended until the last minutes. Normal procedure was to use electrical heaters to warm the capsule's parachutes, as they would be super-chilled by the coldness of space. But there was not enough electrical power available to do that and nobody was sure that the parachutes would not just be shredded when they were deployed.

Maddow's Rules for Political Discourse

Two rules from her: Don't lie and don't threaten to shoot people or encourage other people to shoot people. She was promoting a special about the McVeigh tapes.

On another note, when Tom Coburn, a senator who tried to block benefits for veterans and unemployed people, is being vilified by the Right Wing Hate Machine for being too reasonable, then I suggest that those folks who are thinking that the GOP is going to score big in November may want to rethink things.

Fox Gets Outraged At People Not Paying Income Taxes

But only if they are not rich and not Exxon. Fox News seems to think that that it is perfectly acceptable for the rich and large corporations to not pay any income taxes.

Dumb- Ass Cops

Don't these clowns realize, by now, that (a) almost everyone has a cell phone; (b) almost all cell phones have cameras built in; and (c) if more than two people are watching what is going on, that somebody is taking video of it?

The days when the cops could beat up people or shoot people in front of witnesses and then testi-lie about it are long gone.

New Scandal, Old Enemy

I guess it was only a matter of time before an old and possibly senile Catholic bishop chose to blame the Jews for the strain of pedophilia running through the Catholic Church.

So, again with the blood libel? Again with the myth that the "Jews control the world"?

I can't wait to hear how it is the fault of the Jews (and the Freemasons, as Bishop Droolbaggi blamed them, as well) that there are some priests who cannot keep their hands off prepubescent children.
