Trump Fucks Over the National Guard

More than 40,000 National Guard members currently helping states test residents for the coronavirus and trace the spread of infections will face a “hard stop” on their deployments on June 24 — just one day shy of many members becoming eligible for key federal benefits, according to a senior FEMA official.

The official outlined the Trump administration’s plans on an interagency call on May 12, an audio version of which was obtained by POLITICO. The official also acknowledged during the call that the June 24 deadline means that thousands of members who first deployed in late March will find themselves with only 89 days of duty credit, one short of the 90-day threshold for qualifying for early retirement and education benefits under the Post-9/11 GI bill.
Does anyone not believe that this is deliberate? Trump is more than willing to use the military and the Guard as props, but he tries to fuck them over every chance he can.

Meanwhile, because Trump is shedding evangelical voters, he's now bleating that churches should reopen. Funny how Trump only found Jesus once he began running for office.

Please note that the National Guard are mainly under the purview of the Governor of their home state. In the present situation, it is the Governors who are screwing their citizens. Doubly so in places like Illinois since most of the Guard called up are medical personnel in their day jobs so calling them up is taking them out of the hospitals. A state of emergency has not been declared on the federal level, but many states have done so and their governors have called up the National Guard in various capacities..

National Guard units can be mobilized for federal active duty to supplement regular armed forces during times of war or national emergency declared by Congress,[30] the President[30] or the Secretary of Defense.[31] They can also be activated for service in their respective states upon declaration of a state of emergency by the governor of the state or territory where they serve, or in the case of Washington, D.C., by the Commanding General.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

I am only seeing any reference to this in the usual far-left rag sheets, and as usual it's like they are all quoting and copying the same sources. If this is truly the way of it, it would be unfortunate for the people involved. The flip side of that, though is this: it's only the flu, the survival rate up here in Canada is 99.994% and only a fraction of a percentage lower in the USA. Those squaddies never should have been deployed in the first place.

The same could be said of the churches too. They never should have been closed.

Mind you, explaining this to people that think their cotton face mask will stop a viral disease is probably a waste of time. Getting them to explain how you can catch it in church but not at Costco is the stuff of high comedy too.

Funny how they all find Jesus when looking at jail. I did. For a while.

The Guard as the purvey of the Governors ended in the Bush II administration.

The difference, filth, is between Human Beings, and bare-footed barely literate rubes rolling on the floor babbling incoherently. Large, well ventilated buildings v. an outhouse.

Without deep diving into FEMA's website, the original order was 100% federal funding for specific states. Several were able to be added. The original order was this funding be for 30 days and was signed on March 22. Additionally there were specific levels of Guard numbers set at that time to receive this funding. The funding was through FEMA and DHS. So anyone writing to the DoD are barking up the wrong tree--nice stunt but no cigar.

Depending on a particular state's orders, a National Guard member is federally funded or not since what they could do and couldn't do was defined. About a month ago, 10,000 National Guard members (out of 38K) were not receiving federal funding due to the nature of their service.

Let’s try some math. Canada has 6,277 deaths and 82,892 confirmed cases. Current calculated death rate is 7.6%. Herr Filthy’s stated rate of deaths as 6 per 100,000 would require 16,666,667 Canadians to have had COVID-19 and 16,660,390 would have had to have recovered. This means 44% of Canada would have had to have had the virus...but current testing shows a 6.5% positive rate on tests, which are focused on exposed populations.

New operating theory, Herr Glen is Donnie’s cousin, Daffy Trump.

Ahhhhhhhhh. Common sense at last!

Sorry girls, Trump derangement syndrome, hormonal fits, and hypochondria do not trump the Constitution. If you can prevent the spread in casinos, abortion clinics, and the big box stores, it can be prevented in the churches too!

Simply awesome.

Oh dear, Glennie, you’re about to get your knickers in a real twist, because Donnie simply doesn’t have the power to do that. Since you’re a wannabe Yankee, perhaps you should bone up on the Constitution before you have to take the citizenship exam. He can bleat all he wants, but the Governors make the call...kind like you talk shit online and then probably meekly go take care of the honey-do list.

I read that the intense blowback has made Fergus reconsider the "hard stop" order, but I'll believe it when I see it.
The other thing to note about the situation is that the work the guard is doing, staffing overrun hospitals, running testing in nursing homes and the like is likely to come to a hard stop two weeks before June 24, as the guardsmen and guardswomen will need to quarantine before returning to their lives, so the states are getting buggered as well.
As for who is responsible for the deployments, take a look at the states' budgets, which are legally constrained from running deficits before you answer that question.

As to the guard, Friends that are in it and have rank made it clear
they were activated by the state and work for the governor. They have
plenty of work and a will keep at it based on a republican governor.
But hey exceptions exist.

As to the houses of worship. If drumpf is worried about his base
this will help... not. Seems church going thing is crowds, and it
has proven enough times already buy those that disregarded warnings.
Illness and death is a real result. Yes friends, the local churches
in some states did have they congregation all together anyway and
30% got sick and a good hand full died. Rumor has it they will
not repeat for a while. Seems doG didn't protect them.

So distance and masks were not, and praise the lawd they covet-ed
too much and got ill.

So if hes trying appease his herd, Drumpf is allowing them to die.
He may need those votes, but they will not vote and the really
sick will not and those scared for real will not.

As to GF, I have a better idea what the Canadians are up to
and yep, they are seriously locked down there. Lot of you
want to travel between regions and provinces get the sit here
for two weeks in quarantine treatment. But they do say it
works. I have the advantage of not having to listen to some
#&&hole with a keyboard or the media.

Folks, read the source..it reports an interagency call by the Trump admin, so yes, he's screwing the National Guard first responders:
