You don't have to go very far to find modern-day conservatives who are following Their Deer Leedur's lead and blasting China for flooding the United States with cheap goods.
Passing over China's currency manipulation and other such bullshit, the current cries of conservatives are hypocritical, at best.
There are over three thousand Wal-Mart in this country and nearly two thousand Target stores. How much stuff can you find in either store, as far as clothing and hard goods, that is made in this country? In Wal-Mart, other than the few guns that some stores sell, you're going to have to look hard.
You might remember that Snapper walked away from selling to Wal-Mart because Wal-Mart was pushing them to make cheaper mowers, offshore, with the Snapper brand on them. If you buy name-brand jeans from Wal-Mart, you are getting ones that are more cheaply made.
Which means that to some degree, the choice is yours. You can look for products that are made in the States (not just "assembled"), but it's going to take some time and it's going to cost you some money.
If you are buying the cheapest stuff there is and then complaining that it's made in Chinese sweatshops, well, here's your sign.

Fun note, I was in Lowe’s, looking for a triple gang, white plastic switch cover. Hadn’t found it during my previous paint buying trips, so I just check in case now. Ivory, a few...Black, check...fancy architectural, check, but won’t work...white metal, eh, prefer not, but may have to...White, nope. So I ask the guy working in the area, a white, male, age 60-70.
He tells me they can’t get supplies in from China. They are running out of electrical and plumbing supplies. I noted that Donnie had just said he wanted to cut off China. He says, “well that won’t work...but, if anyone has the guts to do it, it’s him”. Blind, absolutely blind.
