How to fly a seaplane off a hard-surface runway:

I always wanted a float plane to lake hop in Alaska though I never dreamed of launching from a trailer speeding down the runway.

Thought they were going back into water at first. But that was quite the dry take off.

That is an 'old' trick, going back at least to the sixties, if not before in Alaska.

Traditionally, land on the grass when the grass is wet from the morning dew (or has been hosed down). Floats are tough; as long as you don't run them over rocks or pavement, they'll be fine. Then go out there with a crane (seaplanes have lifting rings where the wing spars meet the fuselage), hoist it up, put it on a dolly and take it to the hangar.
