Kavanaugh's Dinner

Morton's Steakhouse made up a fictional right to eat dinner at its establishment.

A steakhouse chain is being flooded with phone calls and fake reservations over its defense of Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's "right" to "eat dinner" at one of its restaurants, where demonstrators gathered outside to protest his support of overturning Roe v. Wade.

Morton's this week sent a memo to its restaurant managers telling them to brace for more backlash to its remarks defending the jurist, Politico reported Saturday. Kavanaugh was one of five justices who voted last month to overturn Roe, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion in the United States and afforded a constitutional right to the procedure.

I'd like to see where there was an established right to eat dinner at a pricey restaurant.

On one hand, I tend to believe that if you're going to take people's rights away from them, you shouldn't be surprised if there is blowback.

On the other hand, this just allows the Christian Taliban Right to once more play the victim card... "Look how mean people are being to poor widdle meeeeee!"

If you think that his treatment is acceptable, then you are not civilized.
Is it ok for me to hound you simply because we disagree?
To chase you out of an eating establishment?
To chase you out of my neighborhood simply for your beliefs?
Were that the case, then Jews would be ostracized simply for their beliefs...which would be wrong.
So is the treatment of Justice Kavanaugh.

You should be ashamed for approving of it. Mob Justice is seldom, if ever, acceptable. The history of your people should attest to that. Same with gay people. If you substitute Gay or Jewish for Conservative then how do you feel about that treatment?

The same ones crying about Mr. Kegs right to a peaceful dinner were cheering when allegedly armed protestors gathered outside Michigan's Secretary of State's home shouting obscenities and veiled threats because she was using the actual vote count instead of the tRump cults count. Before that they and their ilk went to the State Capitol dressed in their Cosplay Rambo outfits and openly carrying to protest Covid shut downs and mask requirements. "It's okay for me but not for thee". I wonder if Kegs ran out the back with that whiny face he uses when the going getsa little rough?

If you're a public figure, B, you sign on to the reality that people may not like what you do and may choose to exercise their right to protest to let you know about it. Your comparison to gays and Jews is both irrational and offensive.

As Dan points out, the people on your side of the political spectrum like to show up with openly-carried firearms to protest at the homes of people they detest. But I guess that's OK for you.

The protesters were peaceful and Boofy McKeggers got to eat his meal. He skipped dessert and fled out the back out of cowardice. No laws were broken. Actions have consequences. Perhaps he could hire the Oaf Keepers and Proud Boys for security like Roger Stone did if he can find any not yet in prison for treason and assault.

B,

You do hound... there is usually some invective aimed at your host.

Now as to Beer K, he asked for it.
He's in a public place as a public person.
The protesters were civil, they didn't bust windows, smear stuff, or kill cops.
Since Beer K, participated in lowering the standard for privacy that was something he did to himself and likely others.
Chasing someone out of a neighborhood for being the wrong color or considered unacceptable is not an unusual event.

After all hes supposed to be a judge not some privileged person.

What's emerged was all the times privacy, more likely just being ignored, allowed him perks like having some group fund his steak and beer. Also just as likely followed by an ask.

Did he pay the tab, or was he being wined and dined? Bought and paid for.

Mob Justice is the hole card, the instrument of last resort. We're not there yet ...

Let’s see…in Texas you can sue a person, and get rewarded by the State, if they are involved in the provision of an abortion, even in a fleeting fashion…and they can’t sue you back. Hummmmmm….

SO when the folks on the Right start using this tactic and hounding your heroes....are you gonna claim that it is still ok? I think you will cry that it is unfair....

I notice that you all, each of you, skipped the point about "What if it were a Jew or a Gay person?"
Yer letting your Double Standards show once again. Because Kavanaugh is not one of your Approved Persons, you feel that you can treat him differently. This is one of the largest failings of the Left.....You think that the rule of Law (and simple decent conduct) changes according to how you feel.

You should be ashamed of approving such conduct.

Nobody goes to Morton's unless they are someone else's tab. The food is mediocre and the wines are way overpriced. https://www.mortons.com/location/mortons-the-steakhouse-washington-dc-downtown/

It's a much more civilized place and you can see an actual power broker from time to time.

With a little diligence this crowd can follow those tracks???

B, I’ll let a gay public official explain it to you:

https://crooksandliars.com/2022/07/pete-buttigieg-destroys-fox-news-host

Buttigieg acknowledged that public officials in"should always be free from violence."

"You're never going to be free from criticism or peaceful protests, people exercising their First Amendment rights," the Transporation secretary pointed out.

Buttigieg talked over Emmanuel as he tried to interrupt.

"That's what happened in this case," he explained. You "Remember, the justice never even came into contact with these protesters, reportedly didn't see or hear them. And these protesters are upset because a right, an important right that the majority of Americans support was taken away."

"Not only the right to choose by the way," Buttigieg continued, "but this justice was part of the process of stripping away the right to privacy. Since I've been alive, settled case law in the United States has been that the Constitution protected the right to privacy and that has now been thrown out the window by justices, including Justice Kavanaugh, who as I recall, swore up and down in front of God and everyone including the United States Congress that they were going to leave settled case law alone. So yes, people are upset. They're going to exercise their First Amendment rights."

"Compare that, for example, to the reality that as a country right now we are reckoning with the fact that a mob summoned by the former president..." he added before Emmanuel spoke up.

And if you read the link, you’d find that Pete wouldn’t have a problem if he was protested against, apparently he has a thicker skin that the alky judge who cried and promised vengeance if he was nominated.

Funny how that works.

One wonders if Kavanaugh 'boofed' his wine with dinner. No one knows, but he sure is whining now. Maybe it was in one end and out the other?

Okay, I'll stop now.

What do you mean "when"? The goddamn right has been bombing abortion clinics, assassinating doctors, and more germane to this subject, harassing people trying to obtain healthcare at clinics for decades. Do not act like political violence is something y'all are not very familiar with.
Besides, fuck Brett Kavanaugh and his goddamn missed dessert. Who paid off his gambling debts, and why is the attempted rapist on the SCOTUS? Maybe now he might have a new perspective on the value of privacy.
