I.E., the Log-Cabin Republicans:
I'm going to pass on noting that using the term "commonsense" in this context is nothing more than a cheap rhetorical trick to cast opponents as irrational (see "common sense gun control").
Hatred of gay people has been a mainstay of the GOP since the early 1990s, when Elder Bush had a homophobic speaker at his convention. Chimpy used "pro-marriage" (anti-gay) state constitutional amendments in 2004 to drive voters motivated by hate to the polls. But the Log Cabin Republicans continue to support their party because money talks. They're no better than the rich Jews and the First World War Jewish veterans who believed that they wouldn't be stuffed into boxcars.
Gays aren't the only people to find out that Wrong DeSantis is eating their faces. Women receiving alimony, including a lot of Republicans, got a shiv in the back. And if you live near a road in Floriduh, it can now be paved with radioactive waste. That waste is supposed to be kept in dedicated stacks so the hazard can be controlled, but good old DeathSantis thinks it's just peachy to pave roads with it. Because rich white people usually don't live right next to highways. As the paving wears, that shit is going to end up alongside the roads and in the aquifers. But rich people don't drink tap water, I guess.

The Log Cabin Quislings ...
The cartoon says it all, who's next.
And the quote:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
—Martin Niemöller
So with that who's for me. as it seems their comming.

The Log Cabin Republicans are handcuffed by their name. The Republican Party has moved far enough right that there is no real place for them in the party they are named for…and really never was once the R’s took up scaremongering in the 90’s. They should give up with the hope that people will understand their name reference and declare Independent if they can’t tolerate the idea of admitting they need to vote Democratic to have hope of inclusion.
The good news, in my opinion, is that the Republican party continues to narrow their appeal and base. They have already had issues in places with having to dilute their districts to maintain their numbers in Office. They have pretty much maximized the packing and cracking, and it will start to become impossible to maintain their numbers without new supporters. The younger generation coming of age now is heavily opposed to these actions, and will start to chip into the Republican majorities in many places. The number of high schoolers I know and see who are very different than their R voting parents gives me hope.
The way I understand it, the biggest danger from the radioactivity is to the workers who build the roads and must be in close contact with it for long time periods.

And Rome burns
Midwesterners needn't bother choosing their poison: droughts or floods. They get a double dose of both.

The first thing to understand is that the future is, as William Gibson has noted, unevenly distributed.

We now return you to your regular bat channel.
Maybe "common sense" either means conservative or the ones that "know their place" and don't protest any ill or unfair treatment.
Dan nailed it.
Commonsense is a meaningless sound bite.
Because if if sense was common everyone would have it.
If anything its uncommon.
Just like conservative must mean extreme right and
likely fundamentalist. It doesn't but its usage
by the Maga( radical right conservative fundamentalist)
implies often through misuse it does.
However when we grind it down to the dust its made of
its still my way or the highway absolutist crap.

The extremes of the above extremes are and have been carrying out murder to achieve their goals of an American Theocracy and getting elected to Congress.
The US has shot a lot of spent uranium shells in Iraq. Vladdy got nervous about them coming to his backyard. For the record, spent uranium shells are good at penetrating tank armor and getting nasty inside.
They're also radioactive Jon, they leave a footprint. Not just the thousands of rounds expended knocking out a couple of kids that just ... stay, in the walls, the dirt, wherever they end up; nobody's picking spent rounds up. The brass too, not as radioactive as the rounds but a trace that can have lasting impact the health of those picking the brass up
It's not just shootin' the shit outa' the place, it's poisoning it for ten thousand years ...
Addendum: forgot to mention the effects of handling hot (radioactive) rounds on the American service-members who handle them
M'bad ...
