The American Oligarchs

Th 158 families who are funding the presidential candidates.

These are the people who are controlling the government. Oh, the candidates will pander to the rest of us, but on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, these are the people whose calls will be taken by the winners.

And some of them may not even be Americans:
A man named Chen Shu Te gave $500,000 to Right to Rise USA, a super PAC backing Mr. Bush, which told the Federal Election Commission that Mr. Chen lives in Hong Kong. But public records reveal almost nothing about him, or even if he is an American citizen.

Of note is that the various trust-fund babies in the Walton family are either doing a super job of laundering their donations or they're sitting this one out, for now.

It would have been nice if the NYT had brought this sort of scrutiny to the Iraq War, but I guess we can be somewhat grateful that they still do some measure of mudraking.
