The reporter said this:
George Takei, the actor who played Sulu in the original series, made a cameo appearance in an episode titled “World Enough and Time.”A "cameo appearance" is a short, often nonspeaking appearance in a performance.
George Takei didn't have a cameo role in that episode. He had a starring role in what was, arguably, one of the best Star Trek episodes, ever.
But don't take my word for it. Carve out an hour:

I watched it. It was good.
Watching one of those "Roasts", done for cable a few years ago, left a bad taste in my mouth. Might have been of Shatner. Takei's foul mouth was the worst of the Trek gang. Maybe they no longer care about reputation.
Anyway, I just watched this show, and George was pretty good. He rarely got a chance to broaden Sulu's character in TOS. Which was a shame, since they had a pretty good bunch gathered in ST. I watched TOS when it first ran. Real shame that Corporate had no clue what they had.
First time I've seen one of the "new TOS" shows. A bit too much like watching the JV team, but there were flashes of quality. I think most of them need some more seasoning, to bring them up to broadcast quality acting ability.
Will, you do realize that the show was volunteer fanfic? They're not making a nickel off of it.
