Even the conservatives are complaining that you fuckers in the Congress had better grow a spine if this country is to survive.
"Jan. 28, 2008, is a date that will live in congressional infamy. Congress surrendered the power of the purse over national security affairs to the White House." And Bruce Fein goes on from there.
What are our choices?
We have, on the one hand, the Republicans, a pack of slavish tools who do unquestionably what their party leadership demands. If proxy voting were allowed in Congress, only one Republican would ever need to show up for a floor vote.
On the other hand, we have the Democrats, a party of gibbering cowards who talk a great game but, when the vote is called, fall meekly into line behind whatever the Baboon King demands. All Dick Cheney has to do is wave the bloody shirt of terrorism and national security and the Democrats fall to the floor in mortal fear.
Our country, our government, is at risk of tyranny from a class of "thinkers" who are of the opinion that an elected dictator is the way we should be governed, for that is all that the "unitary executive" theory is. Once we have an elected dictator, there is little to stop him from seizing power indefinitely.
The only bulwark between that happening is the Congress, and for that, they are going to have to grow up, find their gonads and start acting like adults with a backbone.
Which is why I am fearful for the future, because I see fat chance that the Congress is going to grow up and step up.
