The US and China held talks on Thursday to help resolve the trade war between the world’s two largest economies, Donald Trump said.
“We may reveal it later, but they had meetings this morning, and we’ve been meeting with China,” the US president told reporters at the White House.
...
The Chinese commerce ministry’s spokesperson He Yadong said there were “currently no economic and trade negotiations between China and the United States”.
“Any claims about progress in China-US economic and trade negotiations are baseless rumours without factual evidence,” he said, adding that if the US wanted “de-escalation” – as Trump’s Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, has argued – it should “completely cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China and find a way to resolve differences through equal dialogue”.
Are there talks or are there no talks? Hard to say, but one thing we all know from years of experience: The FLOSS lies about everything. Everything he says is a lie, including the conjunctions and articles.
It should be clear to almost everyone but the most brain-addled Trumpanzees that the risks to the global economy come from just one lunatic with a crayon for signing his orders. China has Trump (and us) by the nuts and they know it. China sees this as an golden opportunity that has been handed to them by Trump to break what they see as American hegemony, and they'll make full use of it. Whatever hard times come to China, they'll sell it to their people as defeating the U.S.
The COFF and his minons bleat about the trade deals they are negotiating, but none have been announced. My guess is they think that Trump's going to fold once the hurt sinks in, so they'll string him along until that happens.

There are lies,
Damn Lies,
Statistics,
Hold on, FLOSS is talking. New category!
Eck!
I won't talk about Trump, but as far as trade is concerned, China needs us much more than we need China. America is the biggest buyers of Chinese made goods, and if they have prices go up, we will not buy as much from them.
It seems to early to know just what tariffs will do. It could harm us, but I think in the long run, we will end up better off.

This assumes higher cognitive function...or any desire to have them. Ignorance is curable, stupid goes to the bone.
You may think that they need us more than we need them, but the Chinese are in a far better position to withstand the ravages of a mutual trade embargo (which is what we have, right now) then we are.
Not the least of which, for the reason that China can appeal to the rest of the world to stand behind them, and Trump has cut us off from almost all of our friends.
Last I heard, China's economy was in much worse shape than ours.
Last I heard, China's economy was in much worse shape than ours.
Let's unpack this: China is a communist country and so is China. Xi is the new Mao and he has all of the rare earths for practical purposes. 25% of our trade with China is strategic. The American consumer is a spoiled lot.
Possibly, but the political systems are different. And the Chinese are working from two centuries of anger regarding how they have been treated by the West. They want to assume (or regain) what they see as their rightful place in the world and they will endure a lot in that cause.
And all of this has been kicked off by an addle-pated old man whose only motivations are avarice and revenge.
Vietnam is communist. Retailers in this country are worried about the Back to School and Christmas seasons. They need that gelt to make their nut. Somewhere north of half of their business. Gold is still doing quite well. I'm tempted to bet over $3,300 on May 25. https://www.gjopen.com/questions/3859-what-will-be-the-closing-price-for-gold-per-troy-ounce-on-23-may-2025-according-to-trading-economics
Carry on.
This trade war is going to ruin the economies of both countries, with dire political consequences for both, as well. Which of us suffers more remains to be seen.
