The cops are bringing in surveillance radars to examine the shit in your home.
The FBI and General Electric are pushing for wholescale vacuuming and collection of DNA samples from everybody. The FBI, because they're the nation's premier fascist organization. GE, because they're just another bunch of capitalistic sociopaths and they see a way to make a buck off of it. Aware of privacy concerns, the FBI promises to purge your data when you turn 75.
And we all know about how the NSA, DEA, telcos, ISPs and the Post Office have been monitoring our communications for well over a decade. And how the NSA has been building a huge server farm in Utah to keep all of that shit.
We're getting a lot closer to George Orwell's vision of the future than Gene Roddenberry's.

We'll look back on these times fondly.
Think about what life could be if the police had, almost from your birth, the opportunity to jail you, with bulletproof evidence. We'd see not just prisoners and free citizens... but lots and lots of tiers of freedom and privileges.
Wow, the rich people will love that! Just think of how they can get us to obey and grovel when there's always another level of punishment or reward they can mete out on a whim.
Be sure to vote for Hillary in 2016! She'll fix this mess! So long as we keep the Evil Rethuglikkkans and the Party of No™ out of the white house, we'll achieve utopia in no time! Just keep voting!
Anon, if you think the current crop of GOPers will do anything about it, then I have a bridge to sell you.
(Guess you didn't notice that the post was nonpartisan.)
The thing is, with computers there are things we can be doing. I always tell people if they aren't using encryption on their files and in their communications, if they aren't using Tor, if they are using proprietary OSs like Windows or OSX they shouldn't be complaining.
People often don't understand how powerful strong encryption is. I often hear "Oh, bullshit, mikey, the NSA can still crack it". But they can't. Not if you do it right, and that takes a little effort to educate yourself, but it's just math. Strong encryption is available, and it serves two purposes. First, obviously, it protects your data. They can still steal your files, but they can't read 'em. But second, it terrifies them. If we could get more and more people using the available tools - Tor, Truecrypt, ChatSecure, Orbot, Redphone and TextSecure, for example - it would totally freak them out. And that makes them say stupid things that help people understand the danger of a surveillance state...
Warning: some of the comments on this post were evidently put there by entities with two legs. Remember, four legs good, two legs bad.
Or, uh, is it the other way around? At any rate,up with us, and down with them. They can police our bodies, but they can't police our minds.
Oh, wait a second....
Very crankily yours
