The CO of the USS Enterprise has been fired.
The officers who were commanding the Enterprise and who commanded the strike group also may be in a bit of hot water, even though they reportedly ordered him to knock that shit off.
I don't get what he was doing. I served under a number of XOs and they all understood that their role was to be the ship's disciplinarian, the officer who made sure that everyone else toed the line and to pour lava-like scorn and abuse on those who didn't measure up. None of them acted like comedians or "good-time Charlies" while on the ships. The only one I know of who displayed a sense of humor limited that to closed door meetings with the CO and the department heads.

Five years. Republican Senator. Family values.
Same in the AF. As an enlisted man, if the First Sergeant didn't put the fear of God into you, you got sent to the XO to get bored 60-over. In SOCOM, the CO was looser than the XO at squadron parties. When I went to SAC, everybody was a tight-ass.
As I said on another blog, you let this go unpunished, and there's no telling how future captains of the Enterprise might start acting up. All sorts of entanglements with foreign women, disregarding his directives: tertiary, secondary... even prime ones. He'd need some sort of cool, logical XO to keep his feet on the ground.
