The investigation by the Department of Justice into the warrantless wiretapping program of the National Security Agency has been resumed. Security clearances have now been granted to the investigators; Bush had declined to issue the clearances previously as a back-door method of squashing the inquiry.
This may be an indication that Mukasey isn't as interested in being Bush's butt-monkey at DoJ. Or maybe it is just the sort of misdirection we've come to expect from these guys and maybe the game is rigged to get the result the White House wants.
Stay tuned.
