One Nice Thing Over the Last Seven Weeks

The news cycle hasn't been consumed by stupid shit tweeted, said or done by the president.

On another note, can someone please enlighten me as to the fascination that Americans have with the royal family of the third-rate core remnant of an empire? And don't tell me that "it's because they're royalty." Nobody seems to give a damn about the royal families of Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Thailand, Oman, Vietnam or Japan.

You mean that group of over-promoted, under-powered German Royals, who are about as English as the Queen of Sweden’s tits?

I look at them at being born into a permanent gig at a living history museum, like Colonial Williamsburg. But that's about as far as their relevance goes in the modern world. The rest of it is a golden prison.

They do some good charitable works, but then again, so does Bill Gates.

On the other side of the coin, they do far more to help people than the future ex-wife of TFG. What little charitable work that she has done seemed to be done with all of the enthusiasm of a zek.

Ask Lyndon LaRouche, or any of his (still unaccountably numerous) acolytes.

It’s kind of a live version of “Dynasty”, without the shoulder pads.

I have never understood the persistent fascination of Americans with the Royal Family and their ins and outs. Didn't you fight a war to get rid of a King?

Brian, yeah, you'd think so.
