Just to understand :-
Why does a turbine locomotive's wheels have conrods? Does the turbine only drive one axle and the conrods drive the other axles for more traction?

The turbine drove a rotating axle that was in front of the driving wheels. If you look at the first part of the video, you can see the connecting rod from the turbine's rotating axle to the driving wheels.
