Taiwan should expect Trump and Xi to make a deal where China does nothing about Venezuela and Venezuela continues to sell cheap oil to China in exchange for Trump not doing anything when Xi makes his move on Taiwan. Xi could come up with some charges alleging that the Taiwanese government is violating Chinese law and use that as a Trumpist rationale to invade. If that were to come to pass, I'd look for it to happen very soon after the American midterm elections.

I expect the Taiwanese have been carefully studying Ukraine's unexpectedly successful resistance to a hulking neighbor which, on paper, should have been able to roll Ukraine up and smoke it in a month or so.
Plus, Taiwan has the advantage of a natural moat, which Ukraine lacks. Ask the shade of Hitler how frustrating that can be.
The endemic corruption in dictator military forces tends to reduce their efficacy, sometimes severely. That causes a large portion of Russia's woes in Ukraine. Plus, the People's Liberation Army-Navy (Holy Ascended Madoka, what a stupid name!), while it is an impressive force on paper, has not yet been tested in battle--and again, Taiwan has probably studied how Ukraine turned the Russian Black Sea Fleet into a new season of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (dating myself with THAT reference).
It could go both ways. Some country could decide they are big enough
to poach felon47. That presents all sorts of dilemmas. For those with
imagination it could be funny or very dark.

Several questions come to my mind. 1) As ECK stated, what is to prevent another nation to abduct 47 us the same rational? 2) Why does the president of Haiti (convicted of drug trafficking in the US) get a pardon while Maduro gets abducted and charged for basically doing the same thing? 3) Why does Maduro get arrested and put through the legal system, meanwhile fishing boats in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean are summarily executed without due process? 4) Why does the those on the right cheer when the administration expels what they call criminals (undocumented immigrants) and yet this administration brings an accused criminal into the US and no protestations from them? 5) If those same folks on the right want to make America great again, why is America going against international law or precedent or norms or whatever term you want to use and interfering on another sovereign country’s affairs? 6) For someone who claims to have ended 8 wars (and campaigned that he would keep the US out of useless wars) then why does it seem he’s destabilizing countries in our own hemisphere? 7) and finally (mercifully), why are those that have said ‘illegal immigrants’ should go back and fix their own countries problems, what aren’t they denouncing the interference by the USA into Venezuela?
Civilization worldwide has been thrown into chaos. And while the world has previously looked the US as a symbol of stability, it no longer can.

Warner is exactly right. This is disrupting the post-WW2 world order, following Putin's lead. The USA has done this kind of thing before with or without weak pretexts, but this is just so blatant. Trump even admits it, oil is the point and he means to steal it.
