And this:
Trump’s speech was packed with campaign references to his electoral victory and the perceived shortcomings of his political adversaries. The assemblage of uniformed officers sat stonefaced, expressionless and inscrutable with few smiles. Trump’s attacks on Joe Biden were met with silence. Some of his lines elicited polite ripples of laughter.
It's just insanity. And the generals and admirals in the audience all know it.
Added: Andy Borowitz pointed out that it was kind of ironic that a former TV host who installed a makeup room by his office in the Pentagon was lecturing senior leadership about masculinity. Or that he was the opening act for a fat, senile draft-dodger.

Excessive use of turd polish. I have not heard anything from that shitshow that wasn't horse pucky.
I really feel sorry for the highly educated generally sitting there listening to two stupid idiots. I'm sure they get that a lot but not the concentrated dose.
Eck!
He is mad at his staff for not ordering the generals to clap in unison and with enthusiasm like the North Korean generals when ever Kim Jong Un speaks.
Also, they forgot to wear their full regalia of medals.
Trump will be soon be wearing his as he can find a proper dictator-hero military uniform on the rack at Mein Wearhaus and he comes up with some medals to award himself..
I bet some of those officers took the opportunity to have private discussions about what to do to protect the republic. If nothing else the event should have removed any thoughts of competence at the top.
Paging Al Haig, paging Al Haig, please take all necessary measures....
While the thought of an insider coup in the White House still seems like an exaggerated season of “House of Cards” or “Scandal,” it actually did happen. During his fifteen months as President Richard Nixon’s chief of staff in 1973 and 1974, Alexander Haig created the circumstances that led to Nixon’s eventual resignation. It was Haig who engineered the exposure of the secret White House taping system that recorded all of the president’s conversation in the Oval Office, on his telephone and in a series of other rooms throughout the White House, the Old Executive Office Building and the presidential retreat in Camp David, Maryland.

There are some parts of Chicago that they might want to stay away from. There is a Seven Days in May vibe going around. Rod Serling wrote the script

So far, at least in D.C., they stayed in tourist and bougie areas. The NG, for example, didn’t go to Anacostia.
