Far-Right "Conservatives" Are Enemies of the Constitution

When clowns like this say they want to destroy the United States, believe them.

First off, remember that this clown was the promulgator of "Pizzagate", the wholly-made-up conspiracy theory that sent some low-wattage MAGAite to D.C. to terrorize a pizza parlor with an assault rifle. When Posobiec said his bullshit this time around, people at CPAC applauded. That tells me that CPAC is stocked with traitors and Putinites. They are enemies of the Constitution. They have been for years.

Our fathers, grandfathers, (and for some of you) greatgrandfathers and uncles, supported by our mothers, grandmothers, et al. went to war against those fools.

"We must be smart enough and tough enough in the beginning to put out the fire [of fascism] before it begins spreading." We don't seem to be that smart, anymore. The far-right is fascist. They are eagerly supporting fascists in Europe, including one who has started the very sort of war that dragged us into war in Europe in the 1940s.

And we are going to be dragged into another war in Europe because the same political party that was against helping countries fighting Nazi Germany is throwing wrenches into efforts to help Ukraine beat back Russian fascists. We can help now, when all it does is cost us money (and create American jobs), or later, when we have to send our young to fight.

But back to home: Gentle Readers, a lot of you took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. When clowns like Posobiec and Tom Parker of Alabama come for your freedom, what are you going to do?

You may feel this way:

But this is a struggle that you ignore at the risk of losing our democracy. Once it's gone, it's not coming back without a bloody fight.

When it comes to the election, you may feel this way:

But don't let your lack of enthusiasm result in tanking our democracy.

History has a rhyme. If you wondered what you would have wanted our country to do when Nazi Germany was invading other counrtries, you are finding out. If you wondered what you would do when the NSDAP was running for office in Germany in 1932, you are finding out.

You can learn from history or be suffocated by it. The choice is yours.

Well said. About all I can do is vote. I'm a retired gear jammer who once upon a time, served as a cannon cocker, but those days are ancient history. Trump has cost me my son and daughter. my son is a very conservative libertarian who believes that we have to burn the country to the ground and rebuild minus any form of government save perhaps some form of constitutional sheriff local control. My daughter and son in law have gradually fallen down the evangelical rabbit hole and only want to see Christianity enforced by law, particularly outlawing all vaccines and no abortion for any reason. They see Trump as the anointed. Over time I've lost my friends based on the forwards I receive from them regarding the latest outrage that the Democraps have done. I feel like a frog slowly boiling in water and I'm wondering why those bubbles are coming up from the floor.
Most of all, while the military is by it's very nature conservative leaning, the idea that today morale is in the toilet because your commander in chief in chief isn't a lying draft dodging rapist who "doesn't f around" and you long for the day he turns you loose on America. And you only have to look up. From E-1 to E-9 and O-1 to the top of the pyramid minus the pentagon which is a woke Democratic institution.
Sorry to cry in my beer but every day I feel weaker and they look stronger. No institution from our judiciary to the congress to the biggest of all the MSM can take a chance on standing up. The only saving grace is that once it all burns down and Trump watches and laughs maybe some pestilence will take us along with these morons.
This post struck a nerve with me as you can see keep up the good work.

How can you tell if Prosobiec is lying -- are his lips moving?

The shadow war, Psyops, Propaganda, lies.

As done before in Germany over 80 years ago, by Gobbels
and now by the Rethugs and conservative nationalists.

They win by lies and their efforts are to make truth hard

Induct the susceptible and young and indoctrinate.

I'm not sure what you would have me do. Devolution is now accelerating perceptibly from each day to the next; November may as well be centuries off. If there is still enough mock-civilization in place by then that an election is actually held, there will be the same amount of violence after it assuming either outcome.

Would you have me speak? No one is listening. Very well, I can speak to a presumed future audience at least 150 years hence. But I do not think that this is what you mean.

Would you have me act? In self-defense, or in solidarity? If the latter, with whom? In either case, within what framework? The pretense of incumbent institutions, or something improvised? I surmise that you envision that something tantamount to collective action will emerge fortuitously from individual improvisation at scale. Such frameworks do not persuade me, but for lack of historical examples, I must grant that you could be right. But there is no guidance there, indeed no possible guidance, as to how to improvise.

The problem is vastly larger than the Republican Party, vile though it and its adherents be. I wrote as long ago as 1987 that "civilization has lost its fan club." Today no one remains who remembers it, let alone who appreciates it.

There once were two cats of Kilkenny
Who each thought there one cat too many,
So they fought and they fit
And they scratched and they bit
Till instead of two cats, there weren't any.

That is the human race; it is locked in rock, nothing can prevent it. We will fight until there aren't any, and it will stand revealed that we never had any higher capability.

Could you point out in the Constitution where our Republic (a term well known in the Founding fathers' words) is called a Democracy?

Eck! with respect propaganda goes both ways.

So now they’ve come right out and said it, they want to destroy the democratic principles this country was founded on. They are seditionists pure and simple.

And as an added slap to the face, only this time to Republicans that are not MAGAs, the future co-chairs of the RNC want to use committee funds to pay T****’s legal fees. So a $50 donation to “promote Republicans up and down the ballot” will instead become involuntary donations to the T**** legal defense fund.

What in the world is wrong with theses ideological idiots? They claim to be the “true” patriots and then vow to end the democracy. They clamor for transparency and solicit donations for one purpose, then covertly divert funds to benefit a single individual. They wail about “Bidenomics” and ignore the signs that the economy is thriving: lower unemployment rates, increased job growth, and the DOW at its highest levels ever. They complain about”Sleepy Joe” while ignoring the incoherent ramblings of their own candidate. And even when T****’s own attorney said that those arrested for Jan 6th committed “criminal acts” they steadfastly stick to the idea that the defendants are “political prisoners”.

These people are allowed to vote also. If we want to have a country after November 5th, every registered voter should get to the polls to have their voice heard. Then be ready for the backlash the “keyboard patriots” threaten.

Michael, whether you call it a republic, a democracy, or a can of chicken broth, that's just quibbling. The far right intends to destroy it, no matter what it's called. They want to ensure that it is a government of Christian white men, by Christian white men, and for rich Christian white men.

The far right is mad that their Orange Demigod can get a majority of the white vote and still lose in a fair election. So they intend to destroy it all.

Frank, when they start rounding up people, as they have said they will do, will you stand by?

When they start forcing people into camps, will you stand by?

When they start killing people, will you stand by?

People need to think about what their red lines are and what will they do when they get crossed.

Remember this:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

What is your red line?

Do you love freedom enough?

As for everyone else I worry about when they start
coming for people as then it is too late. Because
someone else will be next and who will say stop.
They said that is what they will do.

This is the soap box! One of many.

I will be at the ballot box.
If that is interfered with, well it may get, as some say, spicy.

What happens next and how is very dependent on the those that
have corrupted that.

Its on the kids, me I'm old, but maybe not yet too old
for that shit.

We can still win. They are vile, but there are fewer of them than there are of us. There were many who supported fascism the last time around, also, right here in the USA. They lost. Those who opposed them then probably felt fear and despair also, but when the time came, they did their bit, even if they couldn't see how it would turn the tide.
To turn the tide, we must be part of a bigger, better tide.
Now that they are out and proud fascists, it's easier to tell which side that is.
Having lived through some scary shit, I'm not too impressed with their threats of civil war.

Doug, you are right and I agree.

What they sow is hate, fear, and division. As it works
they also suffer that due to basic paranoia. They are loud
but their number are known to be fewer.

Hence, I Vote.

I read a book some years ago titled: Why Nations Fail. The profs were proposing a different way of look at why areas of the world developed as they have. It was criticized the authors noted for not being a theory that could predict. This was precisely their point. History was a matter of contingencies.

However, what I got out of it was their thought of inclusion vs exclusion. Societies develop as in inclusive one (democracy) or an exclusive (dictator, fascism, authoritarian, etc). A society could move into and out of either. But, and it's a huge "but": it was much easier to move from an inclusive societal structure to an exclusive structure than going the other way. Their historical examples of moving from an exclusive to inclusive were always violent. Moving to exclusive maybe violent as in what we see with Russia going after Ukraine. But, moving from exclusive to inclusive is always violent as we see with in any of the authoritarian nation and the state violence used to suppress the movement.

I highly recommend the book.

The other thing to understand is trust. The World Bank published in 2005 a study of how nations become wealthy, keep their wealth. Most striking was for a mature economy such as the US, 77% of what defined such a nations wealth is their judicial system and education systems. They referred to this as the intangible wealth. Ultimately my opinion is that the study was talking about trust. How much trust is there within a nation. We have been watching the right attack for decades the 2 major institution that make up the vast majority of our wealth creating system; our judicial system and our education system. They have been working to build mistrust since forever.

If you are interested, you can read my posting on it from 10/8/07 here: https://angrybearblog.com/2007/10/human-capital-is-where-its-at

Lastly, it became clear when during the Bush/Cheney years there was argument over the filibuster. Our nation is built on 2 people in the Senate agreeing to follow the rules that the Senate created for itself. All it takes is 1 of the 2 to say no and that is the end of the democracy. McConnell has shown this. The MAGA faction has learned this well from him.

2 people shaking hands to abide by their self imposed rules. When one says no, there is nothing that can be done. Sure, voting but that is a delayed response after the damage has taken place. I present our current Supreme Court as the example.

Unlike a child saying "no", you can't discipline an adult in a way that prevents the damage.
