At 5:06 of the video, it looks like the rudder is hanging by a thread. Takes guts to fly that plane.
You have to remember the DC-3 rudder is fabric covered, so it’s hinged off a central post rather than the front edge of the rudder…which is why you can see the furthest forward portion of the rudder actually moving in the opposite direction.
Beautiful bird, used hard, put up wet, and still getting the job done 70+ years later. If I remember correctly, they were flying donations into a hurricane ravaged area.
