We're Going to Be Masked-Up, Again, Because of Stupid Fucks

Stupid fucks like Gov. DumbSantis:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday downplayed the recent spike in coronavirus cases in his state, and criticized public health officials who continue to push unvaccinated Americans to get COVID-19 shots.

It's not experts who are responsible for the spreadof the Delta variant. It's dumb fucking Republicans, like DeSantis, who seized the opportunity to turn a public health crisis into their latest iteration of a culture war.

It is insane. As I've mentioned before, pouring money into vaccine R&D was Trump (and Jared the Wonder Boy)'s thing. One would think that it would be the Trumpanzees who would be clamoring to be the first in line to get the TrumpVaccine for the TrumpFlu. But no.

And so, because thoseimbeciles won't get vaccinated and they cannot be trusted to wear masks, we're going to end up all having to wear masks again. The local hospital has re-opened its Covid ward because of the combination of unvaccinated jerkoffs and the Delta variant. Even Alabama Gov. Ivey has had her fill with the idiots who have refused to be vaccinated.

“Folks are supposed to have common sense,” said the Alabama governor. “But it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the vaccinated folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down.”

And:

Asked by reporters Thursday about plans to issue a mask mandate or other restrictions now that Covid cases are starting to rise again in her state, Ivey replied, "The new cases of Covid are because of unvaccinated folks. Almost 100% of the new hospitalizations are with unvaccinated folks. And the deaths are certainly occurring with unvaccinated folks."

The unvaccinated, Ivey said, are "choosing a horrible lifestyle of self-inflicted pain."

Maybe they're into that: The Unvaccinated Lifestyle. (Which we are all paying for.)

Funny thing: It was the batshit right who advocated for the "let it burn through" rather than take protective measures. So now,it is burning through, but through them. And, sadly, through children who are either too young to be vaccinated or whose parents are idiots.

Sure, there are those who honestly cannot get the vaccine for health reasons. But the number of people like that are, I’m guessing, less than 2%. One would think that the other 98% would get the vaccine to develop the immunity to contain the spread and its ability to mutate. But that would assume that people have common sense, which isn’t as common as you’d think.

From my point of view, those that refuse to get the vaccine argue along three main lines: 1) they don’t trust the government, 2) they don’t trust the vaccine, or, 3) they argue that the vaccines don’t work.
Each point can be thrown right back at them. They trusted the government to develop the vaccine at Warp Speed when their guy was in office, why not now? What has changed? Oh yeah, he’s a ‘D’. Either that or “NOBODY’S gonna tell ME what to do!” So childish.
The vaccine has been scientifically and statistically proven to be 95% effective in preventing serious and life threatening conditions. Nothing is 100%, If the vaccine was, say, 65% effective, then there is an issue to debate. But not with a high percentage of effectiveness.
Finally the ‘evidence’ that is used in debunking the effectiveness is almost always anecdotal. “I know a guy,” or “my friend’s sister,” or “my hairdresser’s brother’s accountant.”

I find it ridiculous that people refuse to put something in their bodies that is proven to help fight the virus and keep them alive, and yet continue to smoke, drink, use drugs, eat unhealthy things, and generally edge them closer and closer to death. To me it is incomprehensible that a sane person could think and act that way. I guess that’s why we’re in this mess now.

I notice the top GQP grifters are trying to turn the Trumptanic party around now that their policies are literally decimating the party of Putin. All the previously vaccinated Fux talking blockheads are gently suggesting now that their mouth breathing cousin fucking viewers should maybe 'take covid seriously'. Too late though. Murdoch/Putin propaganda has convinced the weak minded that the vaccine has cannabil pedo demoncrap microchips in it and they prefer death by covid. So masking up again, locking down again and renewing or continuing social distancing could be the very least of our problems. If the Greek lettered covid varients are allowed to mutate into the future eventually it will be Captain Trips. All unnecessary and all because the trump/Putin conspiracy to destroy the US is so wildly successful among the GQP deplorables. With Delta raging you'd best try to avoid these GQP fools and traitors in your family and neighborhood if possible. Life to the vaccinated and slow lonely death to the Republican covid Marys. When you kill others I got no empathy left to give you, murderous fool. Go fuck yourself and die.

I am sick of wearing a mask and using alcohol hand cleaner.
However, I continue because of all things rethug, and that is exactly what it is. My town didn't mask up, to begin with, and now we have the Delta variant also.
We could have been done but Nooooooooo. And why? Because of Republicans.
I didn't mind if they wanted to die off on their own, but now with Delta, they can still get the vaccinated.

It should be remembered that there's some percentage of people who probably want to get vaccinated but the logistics and support (lack of) make it an issue - time off from work, ability to get to a clinic without a vehicle, someone to help you if the shot makes you feel crappy. (I had my second dose yesterday and felt pretty bad this morning. I'm lucky I had 3hrs paid to got get the shot and up to 3 days off to recover even though my job doesn't include sick days.)

But most of the people not getting vaccinated are idiots and as the blog that was linked to the other day pointed out, fine, ship the surplus to other countries to try to keep variants under control there.

B said...

About 25% of the new cases are previously vaccinated (it varies from place to place). It appears that the vaccine doesn't give as good protection from the variants. ...WHich is normal for most vaccines. Even if you got the Jab you are not as protected as you might think.

As to why people don't vaccinate? Most don't trust something so new when we have been told for years that a safe vaccine takes many years to create. Plus we are able to do math (and not be scared by the media and the CDC) which tells us the risk of dying is very low....for all of us....works out to be 1% for me. And we have about a 1% chance of serious side effects from the Jab (that we know of so far)...so I don't see an upside, really.
I don't care who pushed it, who developed it, or under whose administration if came about. Unlike you DNC types, most conservatives can think and do math and shit, and don't just follow the herd. We don't trust Fauci after all his likes and political moves, and we certainly don't trust the CDC, which has also lied and is a political, rather than science or medical, organization. We'd sooner trust Climate Science folk to tell the truth or do real science rather than follow grant money, who so far have been correct more than Fauci and the CDC....and whose level of correct prognostication is no better than a TV weatherman. We aren't afraid of a disease with a greater than 98% survival rate (for all cohorts). We can do the risk assessment...Apparently you folks can't (math is hard for you perhaps?) and we can make choices based on real risk rather than fearmongering.

Comrade Misfit said...

You do know, don't you, B, that while it is indeed possible to get Covid-19 after being vaccinated, those cases are typically mild, asymptomatic, or moderate? The hospitals are filling up with those who haven't been vaccinated. The percentage of Covid admissions who have not been vaccinated is in the upper 90s.

You want to take a 1% chance of dying from Covid versus a 0.0001% chance of having severe side-effects from a vaccine? Sounds to me as though your letting your ideology run rampant over logic. But hey, have at it.

Other than that, please take your antigovernment conspiracy-based bullshit and pack it well up your colon.

dinthebeast said...

More than 600,000 Americans dead behind it, B. The vaccines as developed were right around 90% effective against it at the time, and had they been administered to the entire population the virus would be contained by now.
But just as the CDC and Dr. Fauci said initially, the virus has mutated, producing variants that by the force of evolution will be better at skirting the protection afforded by the vaccines.
Now we have two variants that are "as transmissible as any virus ever known" and the longer we go with serious transmission, the more variants will evolve, each better at skirting the protections afforded by the vaccines than the last.
This was a race against a mutating virus, and a bunch of mealy-mouthed propaganda caused us to lose it.
The question now is when the next vaccine is developed, will the meatheads take it?
They have already cost the world another vaccine development cycle under the precautions necessary during a pandemic. So will they make those precautions permanent? Or will they grow thumbs and climb down out of the stupid tree and get vaccinated?
Had the modern Republican party existed when the vaccines for them were developed, we would still have polio, smallpox, and all the other diseases that used to kill large portions of the population before we had a preventative for them.
Republicanism is a goddamn death cult.
And as for availability, where I live, way out in the goddamn boonies, you can get the J&J shot at the grocery store as a walk-in in about ten minutes. For free. While you shop.

DA: If you think Fauci has the best interest of Public Health foremost in his mind, over politics and personal wealth, then you obviously haven't been paying attention to his statements and actions for the past 16 months.

You (might) be correct had we stopped all travel across our borders at the same time, but even then, likely not. O_O: The masks are only a portion of the lies and misinformation spouted by Fauci. He says whatever it most politcally convenient. Many of his Pronouncements have no logic. Remember, masks work, until they are needed for the professionals, then they don't, then they work...even a single layer of cloth, until they have to be a double layer, until then they have to be a triple layer. Unless they are vented then a single layer will do, until the vent is a bad idea....

And there is no reason to close the border, we are all secure with infrared temperature testing at the airports (what bullshit) until then we need 14 days of (unverified and unsupervised) quarantine, then it had to be 21, but maybe 28 days, still unverified by anyone to make sure that they actually quarantined.
Or the "two weeks to flatten the curve" that became more than 6 months of quarantine....

DTWND said...

C’mon folks. A simple google search of electrical, mechanical, aerospace and hydraulic engineering degrees says each degree would require a bachelor’s degree (four years). And then to be certified by a state would require real-life work experience. (And I was told I couldn’t do an online search, pfft.) all that education could only be done by someone with above average or even genius level intelligence.

I’m sure that an advanced knowledge of statistics above that of mere mortals would be included in those programs. And as long as someone is taking all those classes, they could get their degree in medical sciences too. And with those kind of smarts they could easily run their own business and provide for numerous employees. Only someone of super-human abilities could accomplish all that and then be willing to advise all of the peons of the errors of their beliefs. We are all but gnats in the world of a super-genius.

Consider the bullshit flag thrown. And if one tells a lie once, can anything that person says ever be relied on to be factual again? I ain’t buying it.

I’m tired of the smokescreen being belched forth by the Republican destroyers and cruisers in some wild attempt to cover their fleeing battleships. As the Faux News crew switches to pushing vaccines, those minor ships are about to be left to fend for themselves. There is interview after interview with sufferers and medical staff that attest to those in hospitals begging for the vaccine too late. 97%+ of new COVID cases are among the unvaccinated, 99.2% of hospitalizations are the unvaccinated. B’s numbers don’t add up, but anything we say or do will simply cause him to double down on his error and become more certain that he is the only voice of reason. (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-pathways-experience/202102/doubling-down-why-people-deny-the-facts)

He’s in a corner of denial, and nothing will change it, so let’s simply agree to feel concerned for his health (physical and mental), and try to go along with simply providing clear facts to him, unless he changes to a form more like our pet Canadian incel. He will splutter and rant, and toss out random, irrelevant facts and numbers, but it just might reach him eventually.

Audience: Individuals Performing COVID-19 Testing

Level: Laboratory Alert

After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only. CDC is providing this advance notice for clinical laboratories to have adequate time to select and implement one of the many FDA-authorized alternatives.

FDA-authorized alternatives.

Sorry, but three strikes you’re out.

B said...

Well, yes, that is part of it.
But you need to understand the reason WHY they are removing the EUA for it. And why it was a bad test from the beginning.

But if you understand how the PCR test works, vs how it is USED, you too might be able to understand what I am referring to....which your above post shows you most obviously do not. I guess when you have no science background this is all black magic and such, so you can't understand and just have to BELIEVE.
Try learning how the PCR test works, and how the number of iterations makes a great deal of difference in the outcome of the test. Then you might be able to understand what I am referring to.
Educate yourself before deriding people who know more than you do.

California Globe?

One of the reactions to it

Oh man. Love your stuff, but this is totally fake. California Globe should pull the article down immediately.
The CDC is pulling the emergency use authorization request to the FDA for this, the first RT-PCR test assay used for COVID-19. Nearly 200 others remain authorized[1].
They also provide guidance that future assays should include the ability to detect both COVID as well as flu strains. This seems practical advice going into flu season as we pivot away from being so COVID-centric.
There is no info one why this particular assay is being pulled. It could be some grand conspiracy, but it could also because it's no longer widely used or is inefficient relative to the hundreds of other tests available to labs now. Occam's razor probably guides.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/californiaglobe.com/section-2/cdc-pulls-pcr-tests-because-they-cant-differentiate-between-covid-and-flu-california-news-silent/amp/

I didn’t take your advice and used Google. You know, the people who own Blogger, and provided all this to be used saying how untrustworthy they are.

Thanks for the laugh, B.

DA: Did you read the article you posted?
"Once a result comes back positive, it must be confirmed with another test in order to be considered definitive.
The concern with Covid screening is that none of these steps are taken. A positive PCR has little clinical significance and increases our case numbers without confirming the presence of an active infection. Without the expertise of a physician and a confirmatory assay there is no way to determine if this is a true positive result.”

and:

“PCR testing has proven to be seriously flawed when used to track disease prevalence, and the number of false positive tests has contributed to fear, panic and unnecessary quarantine of many. The peer review of the original Corman-Drosten PCR paper points out the serious flaws and conflicts of interest in the original article describing the PCR test"

and:

"They also cite the serious problems with high cycle thresholds leading to a high number of false positives."

and:
“With this information, your COVID positive case numbers are highly suspect and using this data to determine which tier the population falls into has been, and continues to be, completely unreliable and arbitrary."

DA,

Its not about facts its about B doing a hijack of the topic for
the purpose of deflection.

Don't need much of test for someone that dies on a vent to
know it was likely the same as all the others. That a rash
of them is likely covid with a level of certainty that makes
a 5% false positive meaningless. Most tests are focused on
the adverse fail, that being false negative where the patient
is a carrier or infected. That's the inflection point so
the argument the test is bad or has to many false positives
is really a red herring. The solution is re-test or
quarantine for 14 days and check to see if Schrodinger's
cat has really died.

Keep in mind their purpose is to proved substitute topics of no
consequence and at the same time promoting the big lie. Also
by keeping the conversation on the emotional level and light
on facts or truth it keeps the conversation mostly meaningless
as they are impervious to facts or anything that does not
support their propaganda.

Its time to lock this up.
